Re: I hate these hands

This is really a trap hand out of position, and there is a huge potential for RIO. I prefer either to raise of fold this preflop. As played, fold the turn.

Re: value betting rivers

I struggle with this concept as well.

I think the turn is your opportunity to put villain to the test. We hit our target SPR, but only have mp/tk on a draw heavy board. Are we committed? Not...

Re: SPR?

It is a great way to plan your hand with respect to commitment decisions. It is applicable in almost any NL game regardless of size/number of players/live vs. online.

READ THE BOOK! IT WILL...

Re: how u proceed? KK on q high flop

You got the exact SPR you wanted for an easy commitment. Bet $16 and call his push. Obviously you will lose to the rivered flush, so go ahead and pick up your mouse Nolan Ryan style on the turn.

Alternate driving routes in Las Vegas

The LA Times posted a nice article with a PDF link that I thought might be helpful to tourists (me).

Re: Live NL pre-flop raise sizing

The majority of your opponents will have no idea about pot size raises preflop or 3 betting to isolate. They do what those around them do, and you can exploit it. The average pf raise is at my...

Re: NL25 - Top straight on drawy board

Wow. This is a terrible spot. What can we beat here? A set and 2 pair? MP aggression factor says he is pretty passive. I fold and watch UTG fold too. Good bye 1/3 of our stack. I think this is...

Re: KK Overpair Vs. Tag

BB is aggressive. Why does he flat call the preflop raise oop rather than 3 bet? What is his range for calling? 99-QQ and big suited A's? His c/r says I have a hand and I don't mind playing a big...

Re: NL25 - Top straight on drawy board

I like the idea of aggression in position, but what if UTG wakes up and bets 1/2 pot on river? I get lost here. If I am UTG and make a flush on the turn, I might check to an aggressive player and...

Re: NL25 - Top straight on drawy board

I check behind here. Are you committed to the pot? Who is more likely to get broke by checking? What about betting? If we bet 1/2 pot we are committing 1/3 of our stack and we commit ourselves. ...

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em Volume 1 Review Thread

Many players are lazy and want a cookie cutter NL book that walks them through the play of every hand and every possible variation of play the could arise from preflop to river. To attempt this type...

A review is an opinion, and you expressed yours. I don't think you came across as disrespectful. Yes, the quality of online play has increased; however, I feel that the book has value at every...

Re: 25NL JJ and i\'m in call down mode

I bet the flop. Betting gives more chances to win than a c/c. Additionally, we can get away from the hand if villain raises.

Re: NL50: Flopped a set, river completes a flush

Villain isn't a loose or overly passive player. What is his range preflop? Suited A, suited K (maybe), pocket pairs, big facecards (mostly suited)? Based on that range what does he call getting...

Re: What would have you done?!

With no read, I bet 1/2 pot on the river and fold to a push. As played I think we call here expecting to see a busted flush draw or AT. Your river check induces his bet.
