Re: QQ preflop cap why?

One point here is how many other people are in the hand. If there are already a bunch of fish who made questionable calls, were forced to call a raise and then a 3-bet, then both you and the 3-bettor...

Re: What To Do When Reraised Preflop

[ QUOTE ]
I usually play wa/wb on a drawless board. That is, c/c flop, c/c turn, [ugh messed up the river] any of the c/c, b/c, b/f lines on the river, whichever feels most appropriate.

If...

Re: Live 4/8: Overpair Gets Turn CR\'d

I call down.

Against a typical 4/8 player you are usually behind here, but the possibility that you are not + that you have lots of outs against a two pair merits calling down IMO.

Re: How many big bets do you make b4 movin up?

[ QUOTE ]
The 300BB is based on calculations (I believe) that if you start at 300BB and never change limits or cash out or reload then you should never go broke with a typical "good" winrate. ...

Re: How many big bets do you make b4 movin up?

First off, there are two rather different issues here

1. How much money do you need to survive the variance at the higher level?

2. How much money/data do you need in order to know (with...

Re: What range of hands to defend BB with against a UTG raise?

[ QUOTE ]
I just skimmed the thread, but there is no way 22 is profitable against a decent UTG open-raise. (you really can't play it for set value, and have serious RIO problems if you play it as a...

Re: 3/6 Live; JTo OTB, with a Great, but scarey flop

I would raise for value.

The board is scary, but ~60-65% of the time there will be no more diamond on the turn or river. Obviously, you will not win that often, but with 4-5 players in there is...

Raised with AQ and got 3-betted

$4/$8 live. Full table.

My image is generally good, although by happenstance I have been raising quite a bit preflop recently. All other players in this hand are loose, usually passive, but also...

Re: What to do with players who dont raise with great hands?

I think an important question here is what other hands these players call with in addition to the premium ones.

If they call with anything, then their call means only a small probability that they...

Re: AQ d - what is my river play here?

[ QUOTE ]

General advice is to usually bet A-K ua against 2 players and check 3 or more. Here I felt that both would not fold to a continuation bet so I checked behind their checks. If one of...

Re: SmallPocketPair Strat at loose tbl

Re 1. Yes, but then you really have to assume 8-9 players, which is unusal even for loose games. For more reasonable 5-7 players you don't have the equity for the raise to be +EV.

Re 2. I think...

Re: flush draws/big pots

A flush draw typically gains if there is a bet and several callers.

So if you have the flush draw you can gain by betting and raising against multiple opponents.

Conversely, if you have a made...

Re: Set meeting resistance

Re flop. I think the combination of a decent chance that we are still ahead after 3-bet, plus that we have a good draw to a FH if we are not (as discussed in other posts), makes the flop cap +EV.

SSHM recommends betting very marginal hands on the river against a passive and predictable opponent, if you are first to act, and if you were planning to call anyway if he bet. The...

Re: 4/8 Live AJs UTG(yawn)

I think I like some more aggression on the flop. Either bet out or c/r. You would love to fold a hand like AK here.

And if both call, well then it is pretty much for value anyway. Plus you sweeten...
