i still feel that the denotative definition falls in line with my comparison, as there is no mention of aristotle in the definition, however the connotative definition has some inherent information...

thanks mermade, thats the most helpful thing said so far. KJS on the other hand your taking it a bit too far, the knowledge/observation of the shoe is static, you never have to observe it again,...
