Necessary properties vs. essential properties?

Is this like some famous debate? A teacher of a friend of mine offered anyone in the class an automatic A (the quarter just started) if they could answer the following correctly:

Is the set of...

Re: I feel like making a sick river call here.

Not a big fan of the call, sorry.

What about the flop play....
Who bets and who checks?

Post reasoning/plan behind both.

Re: I feel like making a sick river call here.

Hate it. If his range only consists of broken gutshots, you gotta be -EV against 95+% of opponents.

Call is silly methinks.

Fold/Reraise X%/Y% depending on reads/stats/history.

Re: How thin is too thin? 200 6m

Yad,

Your flop advice is spot on, but the river is poor IMO. Against a known 10/5 if he even gets to the river with AT+ (generous, generous range for him), it's tough to make an argument for him...

Re: Posting with no reads.

Explain the no-reads phenomenon then? Surely all of these hands aren't happening in the first orbit and neither player hasn't done anything at all?

I'll bet a large sum of money that posting with...

Posting with no reads.

Obviously, there are situations where you don't have reads, just sat down, whatever.

Reasons to post with no reads:
1. You had no reads.

Reasons not to post with no reads:
1. You're lazy.
2....

Re: 1, 2, 3 barrels

Turn is whatever, river is plain stupid. He's not folding a Q on that river if he called the frop and turn, and if he folded on the river, you had him beat anyway.

Re: $1/2 NL Very Deep, Top 2

Villain's UTG opening range is very, very important, but with no reads you can't 3bet and fold to a push.

Re: hidden OESD no overcards. what to do.

Free card play doesn't really apply here with so many guys seeing the flop. In NL, you should be more focused on the implied odds you have with your disguised draw.

Also, if you raise, and one of...

Re: nl200 6m: QQ gets 4bet by aggro

Very very marginal situation. I think it's a thin call due to history and other considerations but you aren't making a big mistake either way.

Re: How thin is too thin? 200 6m

LOL he's 10/5 over a very significant sample. He has A7/A9 almost never IMO.

Too bad your line is one that he's only calling your river C/R with something that beats you (other than 99).

If...

I'd call but fold to a lot of river bets. But a fold isn't bad.

Re: hidden OESD no overcards. what to do.

OP: What are you considering? Call/Fold? Call/Raise? You can't put any of your opponents on a range because nobody has really done anything, so what exactly did you hope to learn by posting the hand?...

Re: OK, so I don\'t play many limped pots. BB Special.

Flop C/R is ugly, bloating pot OOP is silly with marginal holdings is silly IMO.

Turn is obviously standard, based on flop and hand play.

River C/R is good, missed FD, value betting deuce, etc....

Re: 50nl river bluff

PF is whatever of course. Flop is read dependent, and all you have is his bet size. Big bet sometimes means I don't want you to call, but sometimes it doesn't.

The river bluff is Villain...

Re: QQ preflop, 1/2

Give em QQ+/AK and you're still well behind. IME only a fish has a range here that you beat.

Re: 100NL Lost with TP

What are you expecting he has? Your raised UTG and bet a board where he very likely does not have a draw (on the flop or turn, because the Ace is a /images/graemlins/spade.gif).

You're very WA/WB...

Re: QQ preflop, 1/2

No reads/history this is an easy fold IMO. Yes this is AK sometimes, but JJ almost never. Your equity is poor vs. his range, and unless you have shown a history of light 3betting you gotta fold.
