I think you are all discounting that the check-raise is for meta-game reasons. I believe he knows he is getting called and is doing it to set up future plays. Not because of tilt or any other reason....

Well these are the positions we put ourselves in by pumping it preflop a lot. I don't understand why you can't just call pref then outplay him postflop, instead of inflating the pot out of position....

Once you check to him, he is betting a set/aces up/st8 that was made after an attempted steal/air. Air is unlikely here because it was a 4 way limped pot so someone who is playing pretty tight...
