man,

"offshoot" bands that involve members of "flagship" or "notable" bands of a generation/era/genre often get much more attention than they otherwise would.

U2 seems like a really good one. Nirvana as well. I dunno about the Chili Peppers. If Nirvana is listened to, I bet the Foo Fighters will also be listened to. Jane's Addiction for a few...
