Re: NL50 - muck FH ?
The question is are you ahead 1/3 of the time or better against typical 50NL opponents. Even if you see quads 60% of the time here, it would still be +EV to call.

Re: Variance is good in tournament poker
Playing a hand inherently has more variance than folding.
The result of folding is very uniform and predictable. Playing a hand has a wide range of possibilities from doubling up to busting. The...

Variance is good in tournament poker
While many winning players fear variance, higher variance is good in tournaments. Take 2 players that both have the same average finish-say their average is 30th percentile, the player with the...

I use a watch, though some computers do have the time on the bottom right corner of the screen.

Re: SB completes, I push
I think this play is pretty standard for STT players, depending on stack size and underused in MTT. I also find when I use it, I start to get more walks in my BB.

Re: The Grandma dilemma: Debunking the myths
One more thing on Sirio's math, reality is much worse than this when you factor in the average number of tables you sit at during a given tourney. My guess it is at least 2, which would increase the...

Re: MLG hand #1: AT
Wouldn't we be the ones making a mistake by letting our opponent draw for free. I guess with this board it would be hard to know what a safe card is, I don't mind my opponent correctly folding in...

Re: Stars $25K Tourney Report (1.16.06) Long!
Wonderful report and congrats.
I am not sure about checking the river with your set of fours, the flush would have been a back door and with the check by you opponent, I think this is a value bet as...

Re: getting cute with 44
Which are the WA/WB arguements, but I am not sure your opponent drawing to 6 on the flop and 9 on the turn qualifies you as being WA.
I understand you point, though.

Re: getting cute with 44
I don't like your line, a cheap showdown works better when you are in position, making him play correctly is a small loss of potential EV, losing the pot by closing the flop and turn with calls lets...

Re: AKo facing a min-raise - low M\'s
Remember that AA and KK are 50% less likely when you hold AK.
Your good player range is quite narrow. It is unlikely that he has three hands in that narrow of range in a short period of time. ...

Re: AKo facing a min-raise - low M\'s
Remember that your opponents don't think like you do. You would never mini-raise a marginal holding in EP for 1/4 of your stack, but many players do.

If he has done it two times before, he is not slow-playing AA or KK every time. You are either way ahead or in a coin flip. Folding here is very bad.
