Re: \"Atheism for kids\"

If those are real quotes then it was dumb for him to be so outspoken. I mean if your agenda is to turn kids against religion and you want them to read your books for that purpose, why would you...

Re: If math were a color, it would be...

Oh, and I've been to a lot of schools, had a lot of teachers and seen both extremes of the "too fuzzy" and "too rote" teaching styles. I'd advocate a middle ground.. But I do think the importance of...

Re: If math were a color, it would be...

To me math is somewhere between white and silver. I'm mildly synesthetic, as I think most people are.

If you don't think you're synesthetic at all, think about whether you'd consider the low notes...

Re: How long can a bad run last...........

Luck evens itself out. The next three times you are an 18 to 20 percent dog you will definitely suck out, according to the laws of physics.

Re: the secret + the law of attraction

There is a certain amount of truth to the "self fulfilling prophecy" concept. Also depression can be self perpetuating.

But yeah this book looks like nonsense.

I'd say it was harmless, but it...

Re: Mormons In Group One

Anyone who believes in Jesus as Christ is a Christian (according to many dictionary definitions). Although if I was a Mormon I can't see myself wanting to be lumped with Brad1970.

Yay popularity contests. The funniest and most entertaining threads I've read in here have been debates between Phil153 and Borodog, so I'll go with those two.

Re: Argh property rights debate

Just to take one more shot at a point that's already beaten to death, you can believe that property rights don't exist inherently AND that property is theft, but if you're in a society where most...

Re: Argh property rights debate

Re: How does my dog know to look at my face?

Oh yeah, I just remembered Gorillas really don't like eye contact. They don't even like looking at themselves in the mirror. Orangutans and Chimps aren't nearly as bothered by it afaik.
