Re: A Critique of Rothbardian Natural Rights (sorta long)

[ QUOTE ]

That's not what the words mean. It's not a matter of opinon. What either of us think doesn't really matter.

Re: A Critique of Rothbardian Natural Rights (sorta long)

You know...you Acists remind me so much of Marxists. You just hate the current system (e.g. your view that way have civil war and fascism everywhere, and your refusal to distinguish between degrees...

Re: A Critique of Rothbardian Natural Rights (sorta long)

As for the 1st part, you essentially don't argue with my point that what you say would happen in a stateless society is not what would really happen under one.

As to the 2nd, I have no idea why...

Coercive acts aren't impossible but they aren't representative of the societal structure. In anarchy, coercive acts may occur, under government they are guaranteed.

This is why it was a great example. In terms of the % chance of your dying, the gun with a million chambers and the plane flying overhead are no different. Why is one bad and the other...

Re: What are you proud of as an American?

Citizen of the world...proud of the fact that we don't go around killing each other all of the time (conversely, disappointed that we do so much of the time).

Re: Saving the Earth from people

Scientifically, her view on why people have children is close to correct. It is genes, however, that are 'selfish', not people, as the name of Dawkins classic suggests. Our genes would not have...

Re: My Dad\'s [censored] Union

Maybe the company will just fire the NY depot manager in response to this? We have no way of knowing whether or not this will be the case, and you haven't shown that it would in anyway difficult to...

Re: Angels Sign Torii Hunter - 5 years $80M

Are the Angels just insane? This deal is only arguably not insane if the team has a gaping hole in CF and there are no other options...and the Angels have 2 CFs and there are several free agents...

If the U.S. doesn't join WWII...there is certainly a non-zero possibility that the USSR would have won the cold war (control of Japan) and, of course, a non-zero chance that we would all be speaking...

Re: Quick Matrix Algrebra Question

I am asking for the latter in general, but I suppose my question is not how to prove it, but rather, how to express a row as a linear combo of the others.

Thanks for the help attempt, but I'm too awful with mathematical language to understand how to do it from that answer.

Re: Collectivism : How to stop it?

There are two coherent and plausible strategies for overcoming this great and devestating evil:

Indeed, this would generally be the case. All the more reason to skip the "ZOMG should we ban hugging in the hallway!?" debate.

If the only 'issue' left in terms of "how to properly run a school" is whether hugs should be banned or not you've done more than enough thinking about that how to properly run a school.
