Re: standard spot or am I missing something

What is the villain c/r you with in this spot? I can't think of that much in his range you are good against. I believe he would have raised AQ pre flop (with those stats), I only think that you are...

Re: 2nl - Should I be looking for extra value out of 2nd pair or checking

[ QUOTE ]
If he is so aggro with air why are you leading every street?

[/ QUOTE ]

Good point. Because: it is a pretty drawy board [villain has big range], I don't want to check/call an allin...

2nl - Should I be looking for extra value out of 2nd pair or checking

Villain is around 80/60 and is sometimes just going crazy post flop. I wouldn't normally play this hand to a raise OOP, but villain is too aggro with air to pass this up. Should I always be betting...

Re: [NL50] TT - nothing I can beat?

This is a nightmare river card, so I don't think a fold is too bad. The fact that the villain decides not to go allin on the flop on such a board indicates, I think, that you are ahead in the hand. ...

Re: Straight vs Possible Full House

I think you should bet more on the flop and the turn. If a /images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 9, K or Ace appears then your action could be killed, or else you could end up in trouble. I think you...

Re: 5nl, no idea what to do with an overpair here

I think your going to be way ahead most of the time. AK of spades is the only problemic reasonable hand - and that is a coin flip. If the villain is holding AA/KK or a 4x/33 then make a note of how...

Re: QQ all-in on the flop

I think villain plays JJ, TT (possibly even A9) the same way on the flop (as a set). I would be tempted to flat call and see what the BB does on the turn. I'm not 100% sure I would want to get all...

Re: 50nl, overpair on connected board. Did i get taken to town?

I think the turn bet suggests a SD/FD. It's just the the bet on the river seems to counteract it by making it look like a poorly sized value bet (maybe this is villains way of getting value from a...

Re: 50nl, overpair on connected board. Did i get taken to town?

The bet sizes are pretty awful. Although I can't think of anything in his range you are beating on the river.

Re: NL10, combo draw in pos. line check?

Because you are not drawing to the nut flush, plus you have position, I would check the flop on that particular board. I don't think a semi-bluff is going to be successful enough in these situations...

Re: Flush card comes on river, improves my hand.

I don't think your getting a fold from any better hands (AK/AQ, two pair) on the river. Also I can't see that many calls by villains with 55, 44, K7 etc. The best you can hope for is that you get a...

Re: Big draw on turn vs tag

If you are the lesser half of 70:30 to win the hand, then you are a 2.33:1 underdog to win on the river. At this point in the hand you need to call a bet of $13.75 (pot is $27.50) to see the river. ...

Re: Will this line get me in trouble more than win me money?

Would it be better to play more simply against dolts? What I mean is to keep it to the basic 'big hand big pot, small hand small pot' - because a weak villain will not detect what you are trying to...

Re: Big draw on turn vs tag

Since you bet the flop - the villain may discount possible straights on the river, also the backdoor flush draw is well hidden. Because you will be in position on the river it is more likely that...

.5/.10 Flush draw and BP, what\'s my move?

I haven't been sat down long so I have no read on villains. I was just wondering what my best move is in this situation. I can't estimate FE because I don't know the villians (so I assume a push is...

Re: I\'ve been playing 2+2 poker and I end up getting bluffed all the time.

I would say read phil gordon's books (green and blue) - as this will give you a good understanding of basic strategy post flop and will show you how you should have a method of thinking about the...

Re: $16 - TT 8high board, multiway

I think a raise to 200 would be fine, I think your getting decent value on anyone who wants to chase a draw and is holding over cards to the board. Slow down if another club appears up on the turn,...

Re: 109$ Basic hand

I wasn't specifically putting villain on AK, I was just using this as an example (I suppose the same could be said of KQ). I would include these hands in his range though. I was just saying that if...

$11 - Jh3h, correct amount to bet on the turn?

With this hand I didn't really think that much betting the turn. What would be an appropriate amount?

Any other suggestions welcome,

Seat 1 - Hero ($5505 in chips)
Seat 2 - Villain ($6300...

Re: 109$ Basic hand

If villain shoves then we are calling, therefore I think it's better just to shove first in this situation. This bet presents a problem if villain flat calls and we miss the turn. Shoving the flop...

Re: $60 L5 KQ squeeze from bb

Isn't he getting roughly 1.8:1 on his call from your push? Pot 3005, villians remaining stack 1680. He is getting priced in with allot of hands.

Re: $60 L9, tricky spot with shortstack

Not many options at this point. I don't think there are any alternatives to your actions.

Re: $60 L5 KQ squeeze from bb

Realising he makes crappy calls when someone pushes allin, I think you should fold. You are looking for someone you can mostly steal from in this push. KQo v villains raising range is 50/50.

I agree with the sentiment of your post - that it is important not to always just to accept received wisdom about how to play an SNG, or indeed poker, and to understand why you are performing certain...

Thanks for the replies everyone, your comments are much appreciated.

The one problem I have is with the first hand still. If we bet pot on the flop and turn and end up with a possible flush...
