Re: Reducing the Amount of Luck in Poker

Play these hands with an ordered preference. Tighten up at the beginning. Loosen up as the blinds increase. Loosen up if your stack is much bigger than his.

AA, KK, QQ, JJ, TT, 99, 88, AKs, 77,...

Re: burning-half-the-deck problem

Rocketman has an interesting idea.

Burn one card at a time and ask what the probability is after each card. She should get a weird answer at the end.

There is another approach.
Step 1: Buy a...

Re: Need the odds on this really pissed at this hand

What could the opponent have that they would have played that you could beat?
You lose to QX, TX, AA, KK.
Bad call.

Here is another situation you shouldn't call.

You have 7X
Flop is Q77....

Re: Game Theorists - Never Nash in Poker?

[ QUOTE ]

Huh? There's a trivial Nash strategy -- don't play.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm... in a raked game this would seem to be the only Nash strategy.

Re: odds of FLOPPING 2 pair or better in holdem

There are 15 ways to get two pair **or better**.
Select 1 from 6.
Select 1 from the remaining 5.
This will give you either two pair or trips.
Divide by two to get rid of ordering.
(6*5)/2 = 15...

Re: The money in 2 evelopes \"paradox\"

[ QUOTE ]

Argument 1 makes the assumption the second envelope contains 50. If it contains 200, isn't this equation then [.5(100) + .5(+100) = +100] or [.5(100) + .5(-50) = +25]?

This makes #1...
