I have no idea what the accent is, but

1) it's not irish. listen "waning" and "raining." how the hell is that irish? they're sharp, clear, whining, and basically everything an irish accent is...

you can tell it's not irish because he has very clear, hard, long vowel sounds.

listen to the three tracks posted up above. decemberists are a lot more accessible than nmh, a lot more polished. they're also evolving, now I'd say they're like prog folk, which is weird.

People should download those tracks immediately, as they will be taken down pretty quickly. Capitol Records is going ballistic on audio blog asses for it.

first impression: 7:29 into "The Island" is the best music moment of the year. two tracks into it and I'm not sure it isn't the best album of the years so far, wow.

I downloaded a leak but it was incomplete so I never really listened to it.

Edit: can't find a leak on OiNK which means I won't be downloading yet, but I'll listen to what I have.
