B&M 3/6 AKs flops 2 pair, Fills up on turn, I just call

Loose, mostly passive Friday night B&M 3/6 game. This was a very unusual hand in this game and biggest pot of the session.

Main villain here was UTG+1. He played 80-90% of his hands preflop, and...

so you dispute that we have an equity edge in the CO with 89s versus 5 bad, loose live limpers?

I did some experiments with PokerStove to try to understand how much of an...

Re: 44 Set in the SB

The SB coldcall here looks fine with 3 cold callers already in and very little chance of a 3 bet.

I'm not sure I 4 bet the flop here since it is HU at this point. I might call 3 and lead the turn....

What flush can he possibly have that 4-bet pf? I hold the A /images/graemlins/club.gif

If he is a by the book TAG, he should not hold anything that would make a flush,...

Re: I will defend my small blind....what\'s that? 4 bets you say?

1. I'm a bit of a nit pf here. I just call with AJo and AQo, and fold ATo.

2. My normal 4 betting range against a good player in a multiway pot would be QQ+ and AKs. Since the pot is heads up at...

Read Getting started in hold'em by ed miller, it's a quick read, introduces limit, and talks a little about some of the rules/ettiquitte of playing live. If you want to get any good at...

Re: B&M 3/6 flopped set, turn FH, too much action?

In this case the villain had the straight with 86. Either he was so excited about flopping a straight that he failed to notice that the board paired on the turn or he was so inexperienced that he...

just curious what raising preflop here in a game like this without position accomplishes?

In most games raising from early position will thin the field some, although it...

Re: Correct way to play aces?

That is more or less the way you should play AA.

From the BB you can’t really knock anyone out by raising, but with 7 opponents already into the pot, you want to raise for value. Against this many...

Re: Raise/limp AK, AQ, AJ?

I would always raise all of those hands preflop from any position except AJo, which I usually don’t raise from the SB or BB when there are lots of limpers already in the pot.

When you miss the...

B&M 3/6 flopped set, turn FH, too much action?

This is a Friday night B&M 3/6 game, but a little tighter than usual.

The main villain in this hand is a generally loose passive idiot. He seems relatively inexperienced at least with live poker....

Re: When are games too good?

I agree with what other people have said here. These kinds of tables are good, but the variance is high.

Re: what to do here

I would call, expecting to be shown a flush. He could have a smaller straight or he could just be a bluffing on a scary board, but most of the time he will show you the flush.

Re: zomg i called 2 bets on the turn with a frush draw and OESD

Reflecting on this turn line a bit more, I am thinking that a straight forward fit or fold TAG might play flopped quads this way.

Re: zomg i called 2 bets on the turn with a frush draw and OESD

I see nothing wrong with calling 2 cold on the flop. If I am counting bets right, you are getting about 6.5:1 with two cards to come.

If I understand the action right, you are getting about 7:1 on...

Re: zomg i folded a frush draw for 2 bets on the turn

It looks to me that after the rake this pot is around 7 BB, so you are getting 3.5:1 on a cold call here. The players behind you could call, which would get you up to 4.1:1. On the other hand the MP...

Quads over a full house is rare. Full house over a full house is more common, but still rare.

I may have done quads over a full house once. I'm not sure because the other player didn't show, but...

Re: 2/4 B&M - TPGK on turn, bet coming from right; raise, call or fold

Preflop I'd usually raise KQ here assuming I have a slight equity edge and for a free card on the flop. With KJ and already having the button I'm just limping. Ok?

The nearest card rooms are Garden City and Bay 101. Bay 101 is the classier place. Neither one spreads true NL because it is illegal in San Jose. They both have spread limit games which are similar...

Re: 2/4 B&M - AK on Kxx flop vs preflop capper

[ QUOTE ]

as played dont 3 bet the flop, call down after the raise.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with Kit on this. If I thought the villain was a TAG, I would just call down from his flop raise.

Re: 2/4 B&M - AK on Kxx flop vs preflop capper

If the villain is playing correctly, which is not usually a good assumption in B&M 2/4, then the preflop cap means AA-QQ or AKs, maybe JJ, AK or AQs. An aggressive player would have a wider range...

Re: 2/4 B&M - Preflop with AQo; cap in 7 handed pot?

I would not cap with AQo.

If you connect with the flop, then definitely bet and/or raise, but I would not cbet the flop. The pot here is big. Nobody is folding anything for one bet on the flop....
