Re: 50 NL hit a set on the turn, too much of an overbet???

I don't think so.

Like DBG said, the majority of your stack would be in the pot at that point anyway if you bet 2/3 of the pot or something like that. Why waste time? I like the play.

Re: Set on a monotone board

So you really have no real reads on this guy at all eh? Putting him on a range would help. He wasn't happy enough with his hand to raise it, but he has no problem calling a raise PF.

Maybe he has...

Re: Set on a monotone board

Yeah, you definitely should have raised more pre-flop. Not just because you are OOP, but also because you have two limpers already in the pot, and you're giving everyone behind you the pot odds to...

Re: Live £10 5m: AA on coordinated board facing bet on the river.

You pretty much have to call. You're getting 4-1 on your money and you're pot committed at this point. I'm not sure he has a drawing hand, either. If he was on a spade draw that hit, well that's just...

Re: scare cards

This isn't a question that can be answered based on the information you've given. Poker is a situational game where a lot of factors come into play. Maybe someone can answer it hypothetically, but...

Re: A therory on one form of tilt

This could very well be true.

Adrenaline can also lead to tilt from what I've read in a recent article. When your heart rate gets above 130bpm, less blood is delivered to your brain, because it's...

Re: AK flops top two, facing min raise on flop and turn shove

[ QUOTE ]
Thanks for all the replies. Villain had 88, it smelled like a set. What else would he play like this ? However, I still think it was correct to call the turn shove getting more than 2 to...

Re: my style

Harrington suggests a conservative style because it keeps amateurs out of trouble.

He of course also mentions that you'll make the most money playing a style opposite to your own. However, you...

Re: AK flops top two, facing min raise on flop and turn shove

[ QUOTE ]
That's way too tight a range against a 31% - a fold BB to steal stat is helpful here too if it's a decent enough sample size, because many players in the 30-40% preflop range are often...

Re: AK flops top two, facing min raise on flop and turn shove

I don't know if I would be able to lay this down. It would have to be based on what hands I've seen him show down until now. Out of the BB his range might be pairs 88+, AKs and AQs. Maybe KQ on...

Re: Desensitization (Virginia Tech Shooting)

[ QUOTE ]

It's simple, here's your answer:

Population Canada- 32,000,000
Population U.S.A- 300,000,000

If Canada had the same population as the U.S you'd expect that there would have...

Re: Desensitization (Virginia Tech Shooting)

You know, there has been a lot of talk about gun control vs. the right to bear arms on this thread, and both sides present some interesting arguments.

However, I can't help but sit here and think...

Re: should i have bet on the river?

I don't think he's trapping. Chasing seems more likely in this scenario. Any idea on his range?

Re: What is his motivation?!

Yeah, he's a prick.

He also derives pleasure from giving people a false sense of security (making you think yhig) only to crush you later on.

Let me guess, he slow rolled?

Re: Things about Pokah that really piss you off

-Flopping the nuts only to have it turn into the second nuts on the turn

-Cold decks

-Constantly having to remind people in my home games that a raise must be at least double the last bet, only...

Re: What To Do With $100

BI=Buy-Ins

So with $100, you'd have 10 buy-ins for 10NL.

20 buy ins would be ideal.

If I were you I'd start at 05NL.

Re: Set or Top Pair?

In the long run it's always best to get your money in the middle with the best hand. If you get drawn out on, you can't do much about it. You'll win in such situations more often than not.

Re: Turning 20$ into something

If you're spewing off a bill everytime you take a bad beat, 20 isn't going to get you much further.

Two words.

Tilt management.

Re: NL10 - AQ Flops Top Pair Against a Limp-Reraiser

I have very little experience compared to most of this forum but I like your thinking here a lot, and you had a read on this guy the whole time. NH.

Re: KJo from MP flops TP vs. two cold calls

There's nothing you can really do here. He's pot commited by the river so just put him all in.

I would have considered doing that on the turn myself.

I expect to see a busted straight/flush...

Re: Flopped set of Jacks, terrible board gets worse

What kind of reads do you have on this villain if any at all?

I think we can count out AA-TT and A9+ unless he has a tendency to slowplay these hands. Does he like to limp/call like this a lot?

Re: get value from AK?

If he had a monster I think he would have bet a little more on the river. I raise to about 20 here and expect either to take it down or get called by a weaker ace.

Edit: Oh yeah, like goodgamble...
