I dont think he is calling a bet larger than say 3/5 of the pot with a single pair so I would bet/fold that amount if have an appropriate (agressive) image - otherwise I would check behind.

I've played around 25k hands of mostly 0.5/1 and a little of .25/.5 and 1/2 and I would say that if you play solid and table-select good swings of more than 7-8 BuyIns should be pretty uncommon

Sry I'm a noob but doesn't a positive net run only mean that for example your draws hit kinda more often and you spike your outs more frequently in general ?
