Re: effect of your birth order in how likely you are to be reading this!

Oldest of 2... I'm the more aimless one and more of a risk taker. Younger one is more artistic however.

I had the same thing happen. I was crushing poker from about January to August. My biggest month earned $21k mostly from the NL400 game. Then I took a month off to travel and play part time and only...

Re: Albums that needed a few listens

Radiohead's new album In Rainbows was like this for me. Nothing grabbed me in the first few listens but now I like listening to it from start to finish over and over.

Re: TR:Tripping on shrooms+the cops.

Next time just drive your van to Canada to do your weed/shrooms and the cops won't hassle you like that.

NL400 - Backdoor flush draw on turn, fire again?

I'm wondering if firing a second barrel is standard here, or whether you should take a free card. Assume villain is a normal TAG, 23/17.

Advantages to betting: Villain folds a lot of small pairs...

Re: Official Party Regulars Thread

It's a shame you can't jump seats to get position on someone any more, but it's a small price to pay to eliminate the shortstackers, I guess. I really wish they'd implement a 'request seat change'...

Re: poker pro - hardest job there is?

If you're talking strictly in terms of the necessary skill level required, then beating mid/high stakes poker for a respectable win rate is one of the hardest jobs there is. Of course the hours are...

Re: How Many people can beat 5/10+ Online?(LC)

I would suspect that there are many thousands of people across all poker sites earning a living at 5/10 and up. There are probably quite a few high stakes live players that could beat it too.

Re: moving up to mid stakes ...

The biggest adjustment I noticed at NL400 was a large increase in preflop aggression with routine squeezing and four-betting happening a lot more frequently than at lower levels.

I don't get what this dog phobia is all about either... Shouldn't you be a hundred times more worried about getting hit by a car or mugged by some homeless dude?

Re: NL600 - KK in deep water

I don't really think a nitty player will normally play JJ or QQ this way, although it's possible. His line seems more consistent with hands like AA, KK, TT or a full house.

NL600 - KK in deep water

Villain is nitty 17.1 / 12.2 / 2.88 but I've seen him open raise pocket pairs like 44. He has folded to a squeeze from me in the recent past. We're like 170bb deep here. I wanted him to check behind...
