Re: Donk Betting TP weak kicker from the blinds

you have TP on a pretty ragged board against a bunch of passive players (I know this oaks you speak of), flop is an easy bet, and if nobody raises, I lead turn too. you will be called by a wide range...

Re: I will defend my small blind....what\'s that? 4 bets you say?

nh. pre is a 3bet as we prefer to play this HU. turn is an easy 3bet also, he has QQ/99/TT almost always; no other hands fit his line. bet any river that doesn't pair the board.

Re: STT - 9T from SB flops top pair

this hand looks familiar. the flop is a 3-bet, and the river check is good given your read on free card play

Re: 8/16 TT Flops a Set against a Nit and a Weak Passive

is leading flop better as it gets the passive players in between us and villain to call? we have huge equity and c/r might shut them out, no? (unless you were pretty sure they're calling a c/r anyway)

Re: On the defensive versus a sLAG...

if we raise & villain actually has AT/TT/88, we get 3-balled but now have to call for gutshot b/c pot size.

Re: FTP 5/10: Very passively played KK

can you explain your line a little?
pre, I assume no cap for deception purposes, but then you aren't putting in a raise later?
I might take this line against a v. aggro player who will always...

Re: Waiting for turn to protect

scott, I would raise the flop not necessarily to protect, but for value.
waiting to the turn to protect is tough b/c 2 passive players are between you and the flop bettor, and when he leads the...

Re: kinda crappy flop spot

pre is OK, hero is getting 7-1. (if 65s, obviously an easy call.)
but calling pre means not getting tied to pots with really marginal holdings like this one; flop is easy fold once raised.

Re: Live 6/12 Game: Fancy pants or expert level?

if I checked flop I would be looking to C/R.
are you sure villain's range is that narrow? his flop check behind now looks a lot like underpair.
as played I would definitely lead the turn.

Re: River Schmiver

hand 1 is an easy river raise. I would call the 3 I guess, but I'm close to 4-betting; wouldn't 74 have thrown in a raise on the turn?

hand 2 is a fold for the reason kit gave; when a passive old...

Re: Trash hands turning into good draws

as others said it depends who the aggressor is likely to be, if on my left, I check (and look to C/R if many callers), if on my right I lead out. in both cases at a LP table my equity is around 33%...

Re: River decision

definitely call, he has to be psycho to bluff here and getting 4-bet stinks.

Re: Books to read

only played 15/30 at AJs a few times but it seemed like the same guys every time; seemed similar to oaks in difficulty, maybe a little more loose/gambly. I don't think the game is much tougher than...

Re: Books to read

HEPFAP is a good call & I found Winning in Tough Hold 'Em Games to be excellent.

are you playing 6/12 at oaks? b/c 15/30 is not significantly tougher if the right people are in the game.

Re: Horrible turn card

in addition to asking how often he c/r with air (a decent amount given how obvious this card is to bluff c/r), we also have to ask how often he 1) follows up with a river bluff, or 2) "value bets"...

Re: Horrible turn card

all the comments on turn check to induce river bluff are standard and make perfect sense; I would normally take this line against default villan.

but OP said villain is loose/aggro, likes to...

Re: KQs on a scary Q high flop

flop is an easy fold when it's 2 back to you; MP2 is check/cold-capping a monotone board into multiple players including the PFR, you are toast.

big draw OOP, jam flop? (5/10)

villain here is loose/bad, opens pretty light. I doubt he is paying attention to me but if he was, my image is LAG b/c we were shorthanded for a while.

is pre a fold nonetheless? and is jamming...

Re: live 6/12, AJo vs. position play?

I think hand's totally standard up to river, and I think you're beat almost 100% of the time.

a little self-knowledge/culinary quiz: if you could eat only 10 food ingredients for the rest of your life, what would they be?

note that "ingredients" means elemental ingredients, not foods made...
