Re: 100nl: is shoving > calling?

It's only $30 back to him (as that's what he had left), so you're getting called for sure. Also, you have huge pot odds to hit, so why not take them? If there is no fold equity, you're depriving...

Re: JJ against possible squeeze

Anything but a fold here is bad. You sure can't call and face another tough decision on the next street with still no idea, and a raise serves only the following purpose: To throw in a bunch of...

Re: Tough spot with QQ

This is one of the easiest decisions that you could have, it seems. What could you truly put him on with enough confidence to fold here? You have to push in here.

Re: 100 NL: 88 in the BB

I doubt many overpairs are laying down here. He could be betting an AQ or something due to your check, so a call or raise could be understandable (a raise being to define you hand; not to bluff). ...

Re: $100nl: The Two Nines Times

He very well could be bluffing at the flop with the heart draw or even the 8-9.
On the turn, I honestly doubt he's bluffing. His raise was called on the flop, and he has to have something to push...

ez shove, i think makonnen covered it. If he has AA or QQ, so be it.

Well said.
It may just as well be AQs or something here. Dang, it may even be AK and he's testing...

Re: 100nl: TPGK on awkward board

How about a c/c? You can't fold to a shove, given his stack and the pot size, so give him a chance to bluff. If you shove, some hands that called along may fold, such as a busted nut draw with a...

Re: JJ OOP, ACK

I am surprised that you'd fold the river. If you are to fold the river, raise the flop are turn and see where you stand. As played, calling the river sounds very standard.

Re: 100 NL: Is this really the best way to play AKs?

You'll get many calls here from jacks and up, from what I've seen at .50/1 (which is what I play at). It's not a terrible strategy. It's clearly a high volatility play, but I doubt you're losing...

Re: Rockets on the River

I like a larger raise pf, for sure. As it is, if you're going to call the flop raise, you are well off to get to end of the hand for this price. Keep in mind that you could lose your whole stack...

Re: 1/2: 2 hands vs. a donkey

Hand one: I like the hand as played. A turn check is fine, since you do receive a free card if you're beat. The fold on the river looks standard here.

Hand two: The hand seems to be played...

Re: Simple QQ line check

Honestly, I hate the turn call. If you're going to fold the river, just fold the turn. He will fire the river whether he was trying to buy the pot or not on the turn.
Other than that, I like the...

Re: NL100: overpair on paired board vs turndonk

I'd put him on a pair such as sevens here. If he had a nine, wouldn't he check again if he chose to c/c the flop? He likely sees a non-threatening card and chooses to push against that probable AK...

Re: 100 NL: JJ hand #1

I don't mind a fold here either. If you are going to play the flop unsure of anything, why invest any more? Just wait until you can play a hand more confidently.
If you do call, c/c and c/f if you...

Re: nl100 FH in unraised pot, villain has a hand 2

If he won't fold a flush, you need to shove. It will draw maximum long term value, to be sure. Besides, if he'll call $20 with anything, you should go for $117 more, as that would be quite the...

Re: JJ oop against donk

It sure looks like a raggedy ace to me, like A8 or A9 or something. If you choose to c-bet and are called, just give up. What could he have but the ace here? Also, if you're going to put chips in...

Re: new player on internet

I'd suggest that you just read (Sklansky's NLH book is awesome) and mostly, get experience. Play as many hands as you can and analyze and think about the hands. Don't be shy about reading over your...

Re: [100NL] QQ, flopped overpair with K on turn

I'm wondering what that weak $11 bet by the villain is on the river.
As stated above me, you played it well, it seems.

Re: [100NL] 67s, bottom 2pair vs TAG

Very easy call here. Only pocket queens can worry you here, and that's obviously unlikely (only one hand in the range, and with one queen on board, it's the most unlikely, statistically speaking),...

Re: 77 only one overcard on board against a semi short stack

This seems like a good spot to fold. He very likely holds 99 or TT or something (maybe even a set, especially even he puts you on an overpair such as jacks or queens). You are really running uphill...

Re: [100NL] KJ, 2pair vs loose villain on bad turn

I don't really see the need to raise so much pf. Even against someone very loose, you've still got a very marginal holding out of position. You can bump it up to $4 just as well, or just limp in. ...

Re: [100NL] Overpair + straight draw + flush draw --> now fold

$54 in the pot before his river bet, so you certainly have to call here. I don't see checking the turn; don't give him a free card, as it's unlikely that villain happens to hold q-j, j-10, or a-k...
