Re: writing an article, want to double check math

By my reckoning there are 70 pairs of hole cards he could be holding and 33 of those give him a set, an overpair or a marginal pair. So that's roughly 50%.

12 of those 33 are pocket 8's and pocket...

Re: Breaking out the mundanity of every day life (long)

Try this: find someone you can help.

Maybe they need your time, or your money, or your knowledge. Whatever it is, give it generously and ask for nothing in return.

Re: Quick Question on Equity

Your thinking is correct.

I agree with your calculation - if his equity is only 35%, calling has -ve EV.

His equity needs to be slightly higher (by my calculation, 40%) for calling to be...

Re: Quick Question on Equity

Raze is right.

By my reckoning, if he calls, he's accepting pot odds of 27 - 17.50.

That's approximately 60 - 40, so he'd need 40% equity to make calling worthwhile.

Re: which way to make more $$

Multi-tabling at a level you don't even know you can beat on one table is insane.

That's why '4-tabling $50NL' shouldn't even be an option on your list at the moment.

If you're ready to take...

Re: Do I need both ToP and SSHE

Get both TOP and SSHE if you possibly can.

No way that either of those could be regarded as a rehash of the other.

Good Luck.

Re: Straight, but oh no!

Folding would be uber-tight IMO.

You're up against a set here, or even a crappy two-pair, way more often than a better straight.

The only hand that beats you is 59 or 9T. Difficult to imagine a...

Re: Flopped a full house...not excited

Villain raised pre-flop. So what? - he could do that with a ton of hands. AA, AK are only part of his range.

Checking behind on the turn is criminal. He could easily have AQ, AJ, and you're giving...

Re: Theory of Poker pg 166--extra $100???

I'll have a go.
