Re: Review: Read \'Em and Reap

[ QUOTE ]
Read 'Em and Reap certainly does not shy away from hero worship. It is peppered with references to the greatness of Annie Duke, TJ Cloutier, and of course Phil Hellmuth, who is...

Does no one like a checked flop and bet on the turn when checked to? Representing a slow played A, 2 pair or set?

I might try to run that semi-bluff on the turn and if called...

I definitely don't hate games like this, but because of the "schooling" effect they aren't the easiest to play. The variance almost makes it a crap shoot. The only edge seems to...

I fold the river approximately never.

Other people here love making big river folds but I'm not a fan of it at all.

Rest of the hand is standard.

Re: When are games too good?

Most of my raises were on big draws from late position on the flop. I was trying to accomplish 3 things.
1) Get the button to fold, which I could often do.
2) Get others to fold so if I spiked a...

When are games too good?

I read an essay Mr. Malmuth wrote a while back about games that are too LP. When almost everyone sees the flop and 3 or more on average showdown you end up playing against too many hands drawing...

Re: Reasonable hourly rate?

I assume he means live. It's 2 big bets for great players not 4 (4 big blinds I guess). I'm pretty sure this essay is a few years old.

Re: poker stars 3/6 How much action do you give here?

If this was my live game I'd cap the river. It looks like 87. It could be 99 or 66, but I'd go broke on this one.

Re: Getting Killed in Vegas 2/4 Games and Can\'t Find a Way Out

I play in games like this as well. I pretty much think of any bet or raise I make as a value bet. If most people are calling I'd better have the goods. The great thing is you can just wait for a good...

It's just how the table has been playing. Strange but consistent.

Re: Fold a Set for Just a Bet? Twice?

I figured I'd have to pay 4 bets to see the river. I was right. I guess I was wrong to fold with that in mind, yes?

Well...let me try to break it down. Maybe I'll understand better.

I had a very similar hand.

Flop 5sb [5 8 6]
UTG Bet
All Call (coordinated board and lots of callers makes me think someone is...

Re: FR - folding AQ from EP raiser standard?

Reads are important. Against unknowns I fold AQo, AJo, KQo and KJo.

About 2 weeks ago I folded AJo to a raise from a guy I never played with before and it was his 2nd hand. Flop came AAJ....

Re: Ever Been Threatened in a Card Room?

I was sitting to the left of this really drunk maniac (raise ATC all the time). I had KK in one hand, he raise pf and I re-raised, he capped. We were heads up. We capped until the river which...

Re: TPTK on paired flop

I did raise pf. There were 2 cold callers. The 1st was in BB (I think) or UTG, he's LP though and is likely to call most pf raises. The other was just to the right the MP tricky 3bet TAG.

Re: KK...a thought process in the heat of battle.

I get these hands all the time playing live 3/6. 90% of the time I'm not even in 2nd place. That 3bet by the MP sniper usually means I'm dead so I tend to run away when this happenes.

You're in big trouble most of the time here. I'd call and re-evaluate on the turn.

Are the cold-callers LPs or tags?

tricky tag raised
