Re: Luck vs. Skill

Never meant to get "fancy" I can fold my way into the top 3 just as easy as sit out. My thought was that at lower stacks that might be the more adventages way to go. People will suck out because they...

Re: Question

[ QUOTE ]
[Say the pot's 300, and you bet 100. You figure this will make him fold his set 20% of the time. So your fold equity is 60. You can figure out for yourself whether it would be worth...

Re: Question

Thank you for this info. I will digest it as a new player to poker. I think maybe given the pot odds with his original bet i would have folded. Just wondered some thoughts on if i raised what would i...

Re: Problem

By the way a raise of 450 to a total 800 would give the J's a poor BEP

Re: Problem

8 outs, 6 known cards, 46 unknown.

8 good 38 bad (hey another ratio)
4.75 to 1

Rounding up to 5 and dividing by 1= 20% let's not round up and just divide 1 by 4.75=21%
seems to be getting...

Re: Problem

I'm assuming Crazy used 850/350 to get the ratio 2.4:1 which as you know from the 11ty billion explanations so far is the same as 1/3.4.[ QUOTE ]

and for the billionth time 2.4:1 does not...

Question

I hope this is correct for this forum:

"The board has 5 of hearts, J of hearts, 8 of hearts, 4 of clubs.
You hold AQ off and the A is hearts
You put your opponent on having pocket J's
The pot...

Re: Problem

One thing also with Crazy's answer that I have a problem with is, that if you divide 850 by 350 you get @ 2.4 and those are the pot odds not the break even. And Fry agrees (I think) and so do I you...

Re: Problem

The only difference I see is crazy actually did the math for 8 outs where as you just looked it up. So the question stands; Can you do the math to come up with 18.2%?

I heard Phil Melmoth...

As for the question I asked when I gave my answer I had not figured it yet I just wondered what raise would give a BEP that would make him think that a call might not be profitable. When I figured it...

I did not say that crazy eyes answer was wrong I said he gave his answer and I gave mine. Those were the only two. I said to make the hand he needs 18.2% and his BEP is 29% and that was my answer to...

Re: Problem

Now I'm curious. You've always used the 2,4 (or 4,2) rule in the past but now you come up with 18.2. I find it hard to believe you think you have 9.1 outs (9.1*2=18.2) So, how did you figure this...

Re: Problem

I stand corrected. The minimum raise "would" give 18% BEP true, but that is not enough to make him fold with 10 outs. True I am new to poker but I do understand who to compute pot odds and BEP unlike...

I'd love to play in the card room that fry would pretty much never fold trips with 3 hearts on the board!

Re: Problem

On the river you have a 18.2% chance of winning.
Pot odds are 850/350 or 2.4 to 1
Break even % is 1/2.4+1 or 1/3.4 or 29%
You need a 29% chance or better to win for it to be profitable in the long...
