Re: How much to invest in coaching?

I'll try bumping one time. Sorry if the question is too broad/general. Thanks.

How much to invest in coaching?

How do you go about or recommend going about figuring out how much coaching is appropriate for a player coming up the ranks? I know this is incredibly open ended. Let's assume a decent grasp of ABC...

Thanks, I'll definitely mention that, but I'm pretty sure he's looking for something already built.

Re: What to look for in new desktop?

Thanks...here are a few (he wants to pick one up ASAP, so I included a BB, Fry's and CompUSA, as well as Newegg). If I would see him soon, I would install the 2nd GB of RAM for him, but I don't know...

What to look for in new desktop?

I'm helping a friend pick out a new computer for poker only. His budget is $700. He plays up to 8 tables with PAHUD and PT. Other apps that would run simultaneously are Camtasia, Skype, AIM, and a...

Re: uNL: you are weak-tight.

There are some good points in this thread about what the better style of play might be, and that at the micros, some level of weak tight lines are fine.

But I don't think that's necessarily the...

Re: NL 50 AA confusing spot

I honestly find it difficult to put him on any kind of range with that open shove, as I can't think of what plays preflop like he did and then open shoves, especially if your image is aggressive. I...

Re: 10NL - Defending blinds with low PP... Too aggro?

I agree- no free cards. He probably has overs with one of them being a diamond so was willing to call small flop bet. If he flopped the flush, your dead anyways and he might reraise flop...

I think you played this well, but there might be something to be said for slowing down on the turn since you're building a big pot without a big hand. I do agree that you're...

Re: 10NL - Defending blinds with low PP... Too aggro?

I vary preflop here between your line and set mining, depending on whether I think villains would pay off...by just calling, you're giving BB good odds, and your implied odds are pretty high. But...

Re: PSA: One line answers

Good idea to do this. Why we should do something is more important than what we should actually do, IMO. You can explain why to do something in only a few words sometimes (and the best posters do...

Here's what my thought process would probably look like

Re: What?

The size of the donk bet worries me somewhat, but I'd be willing to get it in here. I assume an unknown would raise AK, AA, and 99 preflop to punish the limper, and would just as likely checkraise...

Re: PNL Study Group Day 7: The REM Process \"Intro\" and \"R is for Range

One of the difficult things about ranging opponents for me is that I usually bias ranges on what I would do, even for a player that doesn't have similar stats to me. I mean, I know I shouldn't do...

Re: C-Bet Quiz

1) Check. HU, I don't mind continuing even on a monotone board, although not all the time, but not 3-way, and with poor position.

2) Bet. Likely missed villain. Most of the time he's ahead of...

Re: Rigged: KK and an Ace flops -- line check

Thanks. A number of folks have said c/c the flop. OK, let's say villain bets $6. That leaves him with a little less than a pot-sized bet behind. If he pushes the turn (or river), do you call or...

Fold. He usually has something like AQ here. I also wouldn't rule out a set. Either way you are beat. It sucks to let KK go, but you really have to here.

Betting this flop is pretty bad.

Re: Moving up... stats check.

It would be better to see your positional stats without the full ring hands mixed in there, because it looks like you're limping a lot first in, which is probably something you'll need to stop as you...
