I am quite interested in the situations where betting/raising/shoving, and only better hands would call. I have trouble recognizing these.

You are betting in front.

Something you hear a lot is "limpers in front of you", meaning limpers that have acted before you.

Also, there is the phrase "check behind", meaning you have checked...

For clarification, I only play FR, and I play 4:1 limit:NL, mostly because I'm new to NL and I have more success (and less variance!) at limit.

I suppose it's another "depends on the type of game...
