Re: A guy did this twice in a live tourney....

Now that you mention it, the "all in" sounds a lot more powerful than a simple bet. I guess the only catch is that it looks silly if they notice it, and could catch on. The effectiveness lies in the...

Re: odds of hitting two over cards

Thanks Gonso and all others who posted.

I think I've got it now. I knew my math was wrong and just needed it explained.

The probablities of poker is an exciting facet to the game, although...

best player first, unless you have two pretty solid others in front of him who probably will score, in which case maybe put him 3rd.

Re: odds of hitting two over cards

What?

So with that same math:

6/50 + 6/49 + 6/48 + 6/47 + 6/46

would be 6 X 5 = 30

and the average of the others is 48, so that's 30/48 = .625.

Yes, I'm assuming for the sake of simplicity that if an Ace or a King comes, then you win. I know it's not as simple as that, however, I'm interested in finding out how to solve the mathematical...

Re: What would you do here?

you did fine.

You had KK and went all in. Online there's nothing wrong with that bet since the only hand that beats you is AA, and that's pretty rare. With two big bets before you, that could...

Re: what percentage of poker players are winning players in the long run?

How is it possible that the number is so low?

Most people seem to play smart poker, in which case the percentage should be around 50%. Throw in a few donkeys, drunks, and players on tilt and that...

Re: odds of hitting two over cards

Thanks, Gonso,

I've been playing poker for about a year now, and got interested in that question just out of curiosity.

For some reason I was taking the odds of succeeding at hitting the card,...

odds of hitting two over cards

Hello,

Is it more likely to hit your two over cards versus a smaller pair (AK versus 88 for example) or less likely? My math is probably wrong, but it goes as follows:

I hold two cards, AK, and...
