Re: Introducing No Limit
[ QUOTE ]
Table stakes are not lame, although it sounds like the OP is playing a modified table stakes game where everything in your pocket is considered to be on the table.
Consider, if you're...

Re: The Definitive TV Poker Drinking Game
turn the shots into 'sips'.
one sip if Doyle takes off his hat.
one sip if Gold says anything like 'I have a good hand'
one sip if Greenstein discusses odds/chances at the end of a hand.

Re: Introducing No Limit
We played plenty of PL last night and it worked out fine. A little cash made it on the table with all the .50 chips but having a couple $20 bills around was not a big deal. Going south was...

Re: Introducing No Limit
One of our problems is retaining players, we invite a new guy over and he loses $20-$40 (maybe he comes back once and loses again) and never returns. This has happened many times (one poor bastard...

you could mark all your $25 chips with something very subtle. but good luck figuring out who puts a stolen chip back in circulation... although you might catch them.

Re: Introducing No Limit
I think we'd be fine if we capped at $20 or $30 with .50 chips. I can't figure out why the guys won't tolerate this, I guess they think it's chump change. For some it is but for others $20 a week...

Re: Introducing No Limit
Maybe we should go back to .50/$1 limit, those were the good ole days, you could play all night with a $20 buyin.
Thanks for the 'differing chips' suggestion pfapfap, never occurred to me. We...

Introducing No Limit
This may sound odd but at our home game we never play no limit. It's always $3 max raise ("spread limit") hold 'em, omaha, omaha hi-low, stud ("follow the queen") - or some variation of guts ("bama...

Re: UP (Michigan) and Wisconsin Poker
I played Oneida Green Bay this past summer and had a good time but it was a pretty small setup, only two tables running, 3/6 limit and something/something NL. People were friendly (mostly regulars)...

Re: 5 days at Horseshoe Tunica - trip report
How would you categorize "absolutely sick action" ? I'd be worried that the quality of play would skyrocket thus killing my profits from the usual drunk tourists.
Thanks for the TR I need to hit...

Re: Tunica Question
I was there last Saturday for a tournament, seemed they only had a few cash tables running (probably because the tourney had all the players) - 4/8 was the low limit we played.
We had a lot more...

Tunica TR (long)
Short version:
- played a tournament and lost, but learned from a key mistake.
- partied with my poker buddies, got good and drunk at the tables and took advantage of sloppier drunks.
-...

Re: I turn a set and check-call
I'd put him on AA, KK, QQ, or JJ. Hard to see him sticking around PF with A5 or 56. But no reraise? Maybe not with JJ. Maybe he put you on JJ-KK and figured he'd see a flop with A5. Who knows.

Re: Top set Hand(lukewarm content)
Think you played it well. If he has the straight you pay but I'd put him on a lower set or a draw (7-9 of hearts). Dark bet was scary so call is probably warranted. I can't let this go at this...

I agree not that much action, lots of bets after the board pairs could be scary and the flush on the river could be scary but it seems to me you played it perfectly. Not sure I could fold even if...

Re: Missed value bet on river ?
I think you missed one, I don't think he has an ace - probably K of clubs, maybe K-8. Maybe he would fold to your river bet. With your preflop raise others would assume you have an ace with a good...

On second thought, betting or calling with 3 diamonds on the board is probably retarded. Maybe see one more card if it's cheap. Definitely fold if caught in a raising war where the higher flush is...

Re: Middle set - 3/6 BM
I would bet once into a diamond turn expecting a flush raise and considering folding or calling down. Otherwise you should be good - continue betting and raising for value. Someone possibly has two...
