Re: Learning stud hi lo
I was pretty sloppy with terminology above. Let me try a few clarifications.
A23sss (all one suit) vs 345sss - they have about the same chance to make a low. A23 will make better lows but that's...

Re: Newbie Stud question
$1 is the bringin, $4 is the complete? Making it 4/8 with 50c antes, $1 bringin? Not really sure, never seen it listed like that. Or maybe it means spread limit, $1-$4?

Oh, and Zee posts/reads here so if you have a question to ask him about his book, he might even answer you.
I also probably oversimplified a few things in my most recent response, so don't take...

Nah, I play 1/2.
Find and read Ray Zee's book. Its good. Don't go overboard, though, his book assumes that your opponents have reasonable starting hand requirements, they definitely don't. PS...

A note about pokerstars...
The ante is low so you can afford to be more patient with hand selection. Also, the BI is high relative to the SB so it's not correct to limp some of the more...

Re: Learning stud hi lo
I've found stud/8 to be more profitable for me than any other game I've played regularly (including LHE, LO8, and razz). People regularly make awful mistakes not just on every street, but multiple...

David, In your last paragraph you suggest that a burn procedure would have an affect on the deck. Would this impact play? My argument all along has been to include the burns in some...

Re: Razz .50/1 - betting 6th and 7th
[ QUOTE ]
I don't know why you need comments on sixth. You have a board lock and a super draw. Get your money in there. I'd definitely bet the river. He's going to look you up with a worse hand,...

If he never bluff-raises then it's a bet-fold, no? Even if he bluff raises fairly a bit you make more bet-folding.

Re: Razz .50/1 - betting 6th and 7th
The question is how dumb the villain is. 6th st makes me think he doesn't understand razz very well, unless he just doesn't believe that prax has an 8. Anyway, not everybody knows that you...

Re: Split aces (blah)
If the guy with 44 does not have trips, you do not want him out, do you see why? He currently has no draw, and if he makes 2 pair he still loses unless he has an A and catches the case A. His only...

Re: Razz .50/1 - betting 6th and 7th
I agree with spoon's analysis but only if he calls every time (I think he will). Check-calling can make more money though if his bluffing frequency is high enough. Specifically you make 1bb every...

Re: Split kings line
The fact that he calls 6th against your board and then bets 7th makes me think you're beat. Like most of these situations, I'd probably call, but while I was calling I'd probably sigh and say, well,...

Re: Split kings line
He's not saying to fold 6th, besides, your opponent checked. He's saying that perhaps betting 6th is not the best action, if you are currently behind.

Re: Split kings line
On the plus side you hold a lot of the cards you're afraid of. Spades, a Q, and you've seen one more 8 already. I think your kings up is beat, but I am not good at stud hi.

Re: Limp behind hand in razz
If you're actually behind then the first guy is going to re-raise almost all the time though, and even the loosest called with T9 is going to get out, I think. All you succeed in doing is putting in...
