Re: 2NL - I\'m terrible with Overpairs...do I just bet here?

Much appreciated. It's easy to read PNL and gain a fear of overpairs and top pairs ("gee, I don't want to be the donk blowing his stack on top pair").

Guess I need to get comfortable with +EV...

2NL - I\'m terrible with Overpairs...do I just bet here?

I have a few problems with premium hands that become top pairs or overpairs. I have no idea how to reconcile keeping the pot small while still value betting.

Hands like this confuse me...

Re: $0.10/$0.20 PS - AK hits TPTK in Extra Large Pot...wait till turn?

Awesome replies, everyone. Much appreciated.

FYI, for any other nano newbies, I just recently stopped trying to play a ton of hands by multitabling and committed to only play as many hands (single...

Re: $0.10/$0.20 PS - AK hits TPTK in Extra Large Pot...wait till turn?

I really like nuances in the SSH section about protecting a good hand in a large pot, but hands like this make me think I'd be better off playing a far more simple "good hand + big pot = aggression...

Re: $0.10/$0.20 PS - AK hits TPTK in Extra Large Pot...wait till turn?

Is this a lesser of two evils kind of thing? In other words, I can't count on getting a turn raise, either, so I might as well bet even though anyone will be able to call?

$0.10/$0.20 PS - AK hits TPTK in Extra Large Pot...wait till turn?

Hi all -

I'm really confused about this hand. The only "read" I have is that the table is relatively tight for nano (~35% see flop), so I'm assuming that cold calls and reraises mean high pairs...

Studious Player - Diversify or Specialize?

Hi all -

Does anyone feel that it was still valid for the studious beginning player to diversify when learning games? Sklansky mentioned this in Poker, Gaming, & Life before the explosion of...

6.50 Turbo - Where does the equity go with loose callers?

Hi all -

I just purchased Sit n Go Power Tools...pretty awesome stuff.

In reading through the tutorial, the author mentions the theoretically-derived gap ratios. I've observed that late...

(Low Content) First time looking @ SnG Power Tools

Just a quick question: Are there any other relative low buy-in (e.g. $6.50 stars turbo) STT players out there looking @ SnG Power Tools for the first time after playing ~400 tourneys. Did you feel...

S-C Precision

Hi all -

Quick question: if I take the S-C formula on page 216 of NLHTAP, I come up with the following:

X = -3 (fold% + call%*win%) / [call% (win% - loss%)]. If I plug the published call% and...

John Feeney's Inside the Poker Mind has an entire chapter called "Poker and Emotions".

Emotions (especially after a bad beat) are something I'm dealing with as well. For me, it stems from two...

Net Promoter Score

Hi guys -

Just a quick question: do you at 2+2 do any Net Promoter Score analysis as part of 2+2 marketing or growth strategy? I'd have to imagine that you have some of the highest scores around,...

Re: Ed: SSHE - Quizzes \"Flop Play\" - More openings please...

Got it...thanks much.

So, if I understand, sometimes you can't protect your hand (either through betting or checkraising). At that point, the lesser of the two evils is to fire away on the flop...

Re: $0.25/$0.50 Pokerstars: Overpair - Do I bet out on flop?

I thought that's what I'm trying to do. Pot has 12SB in it before I bet. How does giving someone 13:1 defend against gutshots?

So, is the punchline that I'm looking for someone to make a...

Re: Would you have re-raised the turn?

So, from UTG+2, you have a call in early position, followed by a raise on the flop after two people have called.

At that point, I'm thinking that they've hit a set (either 77 or 66) or they're...

Re: $0.25/$0.50 Pokerstars: Overpair - Do I bet out on flop?

[Sigh] If I could see why there was a difference, I wouldn't have asked.

To me, it seems like both hands would be better off waiting for the turn to put more money into the pot. Here's my...

Re: $0.25/$0.50 Pokerstars: Overpair - Do I bet out on flop?

Ok, then let me ask this: how do I balance the "Two Overpair Hands" theory (that I've probably got very good equity and should bet) and the protecting your hand in an extremely large pot theory?...

Re: PT Stats...Am I a donkey?

Well, if your standard deviation per 100 hands is ~17.8 or higher, you could be a winning player on a bad run (95% confidence). 11.9 if you want 99% confidence.

Seems possible.

[EDIT] This, by...

Re: Question on sklansky/malmuth books

Buy "Getting Started in Hold'em". It is primarily a limit book that has some decent no-limit cash and tourney advice. The limit section is very strong, especially compared to other beginner books.
