I read the wa/wb concept, which says checking here is best. However, i probably don't understand that concept at all.
I did call and he had Q4 of clubs for the flush.

I had no reads on villain, so i see that i should of pushed. However i disagree that its an insta shove. Although shoving is the right move, i would at least give it some thought first.

I realize that i should of pushed or at least called. At the time though, i thought he could easily have TT JJ KQ or a flush. I did lay it down and he showed A6 of diamonds....

It makes sense to me that he has the 9 here, (betting the flop to protect against flush draws) (checking the turn because the flush hit)
