Re: Trips on the flop

PF: I can live with it...

Flop: I'd c/r for value with the PF aggressor on your left, although with the big pot and all the draws available, I guess leading with a chance to b/3b is good also.

Re: Am I a maniac?

Can you c/f the river getting > 15:1, or are you just assuming that he'll check behind some hands that beat me? I guess I'm assuming that if I check, he's betting ATC for his last 5 chips.

Then where do you slow down? PF, flop, turn or river?

Am I a maniac?

Live 6/12.

MP: jovial college kid, plays pretty tight but very passively.
CO: cold called my UTG raise with T9s and bet all the way down after flopping trips.
BN: Projects LAG image, but...

Re: Turkey Talk: November Low Content Thread

Conversation at the table yesterday:

P1: "My daughter majors in microbiology. What's that?"
P2: "I know what that is."
P1: "What, are you some kind of scientist?"
P2: "I was a math major in...

Re: 3/6 a BB special, h/u, how to extract most value ?

I'm always leading out this flop. But would it be too cute to b/c the flop and b/3b a non /images/graemlins/spade.gif turn?

Re: 78 Suited: Bet or take freebie

Good points Hyper. In this particular case, aside from the immediate value shown from a bet on this street, I think the only scenario where there we gain additional equity from folds is the case...

Re: 3/6 online. Flop top set and slow played.

If you raise the flop, this guy might sometimes 3-bet you. Then you can get cute and call and raise the turn with UTG "pot committed."

Re: Live 6/12 Game, KQo in the small blind

Preflop, turn and river are super-standard. I think either c/r'ing or betting out the flop are fine. It might get checked around sometimes, but c/r is good for protecting your hand if the bet is from...

Re: live 6/12, 87s from BB

Thanks AB, nice posts.

Re: the river bet, it seemed that the two most likely players to hold a 6 were the SB and BN since they're the two worst players. SB is straightforward and would have led...

Re: 78 Suited: Bet or take freebie

I agree with Sean that the size of the pot doesn't matter in deciding whether or not to bet on this street. We're trying to decide if we have enough equity to make a bet profitable *on this street*. ...

Thanks all for the interesting comments.

Hyper, nice post, but... aren't you showing the call as +EV in your first example? +.6 is +.6. If I'm reading it correctly, you're saying I'll showdown a...

Re: live 6/12, overs+gutshot from BB

I think I have a fair amount of equity against the SB's range -- he could have as little as something like A5 here.

If there are a lot of players involved in this pot, I'm not thrilled if I hit a...

live 6/12, 87s from BB

Maybe one folder, so 8 players, I have 8 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 7 /images/graemlins/heart.gif in BB. I think about raising it up but chicken out -- the table is not super loose, so the 8-handed...

live 6/12, overs+gutshot from BB

I'm dealt J /images/graemlins/club.gif 9 /images/graemlins/heart.gif in BB. 5 limpers, SB completes, I check. The game is somewhat tight passive, and there are more players in this hand than on...

Right, we may talking a little past each other. I wasn't really clear initially, but I was referring to both situations -- first, the bettor shows one card and the caller mucks, and two, the bettor...

You have to show all your cards at an actual showdown, don't you? Or can you do this if P2 mucks without contest if the shown cards are enough?

Re: Showing One Card (after everyone has folded)

Slightly different question, but if there's an actual showdown, though, you have to show down both cards, right?

Situation: P1 bets, P2 calls. P1 shows top pair but doesn't show kicker.

Or,...

Re: The rule and ettiquitte on asking to see mucked cards at showdown?

Slightly OT: There is a player in my home game who, at showdown, tries to show down as few cards as possible to determine if he has enough to win (1 in hold 'em games, 2 in Omaha games). It's an...

Re: 2/4 B&M - turn play with 99 and 4 card flush draw; counting outs?

Also, if you river a club, really the only good result is the hand checking around. If EP can keep betting, there's a good chance he has a strong flush. If a later position player bets, then you...

Re: 2/4 B&M - turn play with 99 and 4 card flush draw; counting outs?

This isn't really an answer, but have you considered removing the rake when you count the pot? I do at 6/12 and 8/16 where the rake is less severe. At 2/4, assuming a $4 rake and a $1 tip, there's...
