Uncomfortable staring players down.

I get uncomfortable staring othe players down when i'm playing at a table. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they remedy it. I know it's a confidence problem, but I find it extremely hard to do.

You don't have to stare them down. Just try to be really conscious about behaving exactly the same when you have a hand and when you don't. If I'm in a hand, I try to sit in the same position, place my hands the same, put my chips out the same, etc. You can observe the other guy without trying to burn holes in his retinas with your stare-down. You need to see all of his mannerisms anyway, not just his eyeballs. Look for shaky hands, posture changes, fidgetyness (don't know if that is actually a word, but you know what I mean). Look at everything. Don't worry about staring him down.

You don't have to stare them down. Some players do this and others don't. If I make a raise (whether I have a hand or not) and someone is considering calling me, I always stare at the board. I feel if I look at them, I risk giving too much away about my hand.

If I am considering calling someone elses raise, I usually watch them as they bet (their hands mainly) and I will take little ninja looks at their face. If I stare at someone, I tend to get a big [censored] -eating grin on my face and eventually burst out laughing. I've never been good at staring contests.

I'm aware of the tells, an can pot them. I just really do not looking over at other players after they pull a move on me. I was also not referring to the soul wrenching stare down either. I'm saying i have difficulty looking for like any expanded period of time.

I'm look at peoples eyes i'm looking for psoture and what not because not realiable tell has been discovered about eyes alone, which is a reason why i think sunglasses at a table are for cheese balls.

I love this typo

"I'm aware of the tells, an can pot them."

Perfect strategy!

If you aren't staring a player down, how do you see into his soul? I thought soul-seeing was like those magic pictures that you need to stare at for awhile and all of a sudden you can see it.

Only immature brats can see into souls.

I try not to stare directly at someone unless I'm heads up. Instead, look in their general direction but try to keep an eye on the whole table, not just one person.

You could also focus more on the board or their chips, yet still watch them.

Sigh, I'm gonna have to run everything through word now aren't I?
