If online poker becomes illegal in the US, will you emigrate?
With an estimated 3,000,000 Americans playing online poker for real money, and with the assumption that 1 in 100 is a profitable player, this becomes a very relevant question for some 30,000 Americans, many of whom undoubtedly participate in these forums. So the question is, if it becomes impossible or illegal to play online poker for money in the United States, will you leave? If so, where do you think you'll go? Obviously, this question doesn't apply to people who aren't American, so please refrain from casting your vote in the poll.
For the record, I'll be the first one on the plane out of here. |

If it is banned in america, it will be much harder to a profitable player, no matter where you live.

If it is banned in america, it will be much harder to a profitable player, no matter where you live. [/ QUOTE ] Why, because all the international players are such sharks? Or is it because virtually all of the American pros will disappear out of the game, thereby making them so much tougher? I get it that there will be far fewer games available, but those games will have the same ratio of fish to sharks that exists today and, as such, will be just as beatable. I might just have to settle for playing 1 or 2 tables at once but, even still, if I move somewhere where the PPP per capital is like $5,000/year, I won't have to earn nearly as much money to live like a king. |

[/ QUOTE ] What you fail to realize is that the current legislation will most likely NOT effect the sharks in America's ability to play online. Read that again, the sharks will still be able to play online poker, the fish won't. The reason for this is simple, nearly all legislative attempts at getting rid of Online Poker in the US including the current bill, just seek to do it by restricting the payment methods. Dedicated US players will still find ways to deposit money, but the fish will not. The ratio of sharks to fish will increase. |

already did but it has nothing to do with online poker. In fact, if it becomes illegal it probably will shorten the duration I stay out of the US.
