JJ - how bad did I play this?

No stats on villain but he seemed tight so far. I didn't want to 3bet and have to call a shove preflop since he has half a stack (should I be willing to do this with JJ?). My plan was to call and cr any undercard flop or any flop with a J obv.

Easy 3bet preflop to $10-11. This could easily be a steal and JJ is only behind 3 hands preflop...

As played:

What is your reasoning for c/r the flop? You will only get calls/raises from better hands (usually) and you will fold out worse hands. I would bet and 3bet AI if raised against a sorta unknown.

So, I would raise to $10-11 preflop, then lead the flop for ~3/4 pot and get it AI if re-raised.

If I 3bet pf and he pushes do I call?

I don't think JJ is strong enough to call a shove on this flop. If you plan on getting the chips in on any flop that doesn't have an A, K or Q in it then 3-bet preflop. I'd fold if your opponent 4-bets you pre unless you have a strong read.

Also, be the one shoving the flop, not vice versa, so that means bet the flop and shove over the top of a raise. You want to fold out overcards (AK/AQ/KQ), and you're not getting that when you call an all-in on the flop.

Completely agree. With no reads I am folding to a shove

Three-bet to $10 and then fold to a shove. On babies, bet-call.

If he 4bet pushes and you think he might be tight, I'm usually folding JJ preflop. Even relatively loose players 4bet range preflop is usually like JJ+/AK. JJ has 36.5% equity against this range.

Let's say you 3bet to $10. The pot would be ~$66 back to you to call $42 (his $3 raise + $10 3bet + $1 BB + $52 re-raise).

You would be getting 1.57:1 to call a 4bet AI. You need at least 1.73:1 to make a call breakeven. It's close but I would fold JJ to a 4bet.
