Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Some options:

(1)Your bank, BB&T, may not "cash" the check but they could pass it to their correspondent bank for "collection" (for a fee charged to you). This is the typical handling of foreign currency checks. Ask to speak to someone who knows what they are doing at your bank.

(2)Since you do "a lot of work in Canada" and your 2+2 location is Windsor, Ontario Canada, why not have a deposit account there at a Canadian bank? Pick one who has access to the US ACH for electronic funds transfers.

(3)If you travel to Canada, present the check to the issuing bank's branch. Some banks charge a fee to non customers to collect the funds that way, at least in the US.

I'm pretty sure all local banks in Windsor, Canada, will accept Canadian checks. Why wouldn't they?
