The John Kerry / Pickens challenge - Swift Boat ads true after all?

Earlier this month T. Boone Pickens challenged anyone to prove that there were material falsehoods in the ads run by the Swift Boat veterans, as is widely repeated by the media.

Well, John Kerry has accepted the challenge. See the exchange of letters between them (PDF).

Has any real proof ever been shown that the ads were materially incorrect, or have the media and Kerry supporters been falsifying the truth about campaign 2004 abd the truthfulness of the Swift Boaters?

Can John Kerry prove falsehoods here?

If he can not, how can we continue to use the term "Swift boating" whenever soneone is attacked? The truth is the truth, and if the Swift boaters were telling the truth, we have all been had.

What do you think? Can Kerry prove it?

The fact that his campaign became about Vietnam when it should have been about Iraq was absurd. If Bush or his campaign crew had a direct role in manipulating this then it was an extremely brilliant move on their part.

Maybe, but did anybody really not vote for Kerry because of the swift boat thing? Bush did run a good campaign the second time. He did a really good job to get the nomination the first time, I think he could have done better against Gore though.

I think it does matter. If John Kerry was smeared with false charges, he deserves an official apology. If the charges were true, then all those who attacked the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth as being liars, owe them an apology.

If nothing else, it would be nice to have this issue settled because the term "Swift-Boated" is being used frequently during this campaign as a euphemism for an unfair, dirty attack on a politician. If those ads were accurate, then the term should certainly be retired from it's current use.
