50NL: AK Flop Decision 40bb Effective Stacks

This one may be simple. No reads on the guy so I'm not sure if he's lost money or bought in short.

Full Tilt Poker, $0.25/$0.50 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 4 Players

BTN: $55.85
Hero (SB): $84.65
BB: $20.50
UTG: $58.65

Pre-Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (SB)
UTG folds, BTN raises to $1.75, Hero raises to $5.75, BB calls $5.25, BTN folds

Flop: ($13.25) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players)

Meh, I just shove readless. Possible spew. With something resembling a read I would consider c/c or c/f.

If you are shoving, you realize that there isn't a single pocket pair that he folds right?

I think I like c/f. It's pretty rare that you are getting bluffed off the best hand here, maybe a split at best.
Shoving isn't going to get anything better than AK high to fold right now.
I think c/f > c/c > shoving

nasty spot, I dont like shoving because it seems really spewy but cbeting is almost 100% push, I guess shoving would be best here

[/ QUOTE ]Do you think average 50nl opponent will shove if checked to in this spot? With ATC he called with PF? Like AQ, KQ, AJ, JT, etc. This is a pretty bad overcall unless he has Aces. If he's calling all pairs I think he also calls any type of suited broadway, AK, AQ, maybe even speculative hands like suited connectors? The only "reasonable" range, i.e. he isn't totally awful, would be QQ+. Maybe you get a free card? I think checking AA in this spot is fine as well if you had that...

The point I'm trying to make is that if you are committed to get stacks in at this point, check calling is the better option b/c it allows him to bluff a worse hand. The reason I say this is b/c I can't think of a single hand that beats us that folds to a flop bet. He obviously may go ahead and call off with something like AQ if we shove, but there is a slight chance he will fold it. FWIW, I check folded the flop, but the more I thought about it the more I convinced myself that check calling would have been a decent option as well.
