Uhh New Power Supply?

Hmmm, I wake up and turn my monitors on, computer is still running, and it is just black.

Ok, turn computer off, it won't turn back on, unplug and replug the power cord back in, computer turns on and monitors are displaying correctly for about 20 seconds after windows has loaded up then monitors go black again and flash the words analog/digital respectively.

Ok, unplug and replug, comp is not turning on. New power supply time?

I would think it is video card related. what are you using for a video?

It seems like it. Is it under warrenty?

What makes me think that it is not the power supply is that it does get some juice. Most of the issues I've dealt with concerning power supplys are when they are completely dead.

Is the red tab on the back set at 115volts and not 240v?

Well it's completely dead now, won't turn on...

Comp is like 4 or 5 years old, I had an NVIDIA AGP card in there, so not even PCI (thats the new one, right?)

A friend of mine had a similar problem and the culprit was his motherboard.

A couple of things you can try to diagnose the problem include:

* Smell the power supply. Usually when they die they leave behind a burnt smell

* Can you get your hands on other PC parts like PSU, mobo, monitor etc? If u can, just replace each part one at a time and test the computer. This process of elimination might help you diagnose the faulty part.

Your roommate is wrong. 250w is a small but standard size power supply for a consumer PC. Monitors don't run off of the power supply, anyways.

As others have said, I seriously doubt it's your PSU.

I'd try to get other hardware and swap it out, one by one until you find the culprit. I'm guessing mobo tbh.

GL!
