50NL Bottomset vs 2p2er

Villain is 24/15/6 over 182 hands and is solid. I've seen him raise callers postflop before, as well.

He probably has me at around 18/11/5

I call initially because the board's pretty dry and I'd like some callers behind me. If someone raises, I'm not sure whether I'm raising or calling, but I'm leaning towards raising. When MP2 raises, I repop. We're both pretty aggro so he might assume I'm making a move. When he calls, I figure I'm either ahead of a hand he's holding to catch my bluff, or he's got a better set.

Turn: K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($48.75, 2 players)

Against anyone else, I'm getting it in here and not thinking twice. Against this villain, I'm not entirely sure, but feel like the pot is so big at this point that folding to a shove seems bad. Thoughts? Comments on all streets are welcome!

i think your flop line is fine.

You have to shove this turn, or call a shove.

Just shove turn. You've shown an incredible amount of strength calling, then raising on the flop. He didn't go away, so he either has 66 or an oddly played JJ+

I wouldn't be surprised to lose this hand set/set at all, but the money is going in somehow at this point. I push.

Hate it, against a competent player you're losing all your action when you're ahead on this flop.

How do you play it then, chargers?

Re: 50NL Bottomset vs 2p2er

I would have raised the flop bet myself. As played I wouldn't have called/raised because it reps what you have and that's bad. The turn may be an odd spot, maybe check/call and shove river.

Just calling on the flop though makes you tip your hand at some point. You repped a monster with the action that took place behind you. If nobody raises behind you you have a small pot on the turn with lots of money to be bet so you're going to have to raise the BB if he bets again which also signals a monster to most people, ESP. ON DRY BOARDS. The only way you don't rep a monster is by raising the flop the first time action is on you which gets you paid off more often.

Good point. I need to start thinking more about things like this since more people are thinking at this level, and definitely against someone behind me who I know is paying attention. If I raise flop, and villain reraises, is that more a show of strength than calling my call/raise or less? (Hopefully, that made sense lol)

Honestly you're not really folding this on the flop, so get the money in then. I'd also raise on the flop instead of call/raising. Add my vote to a c/c on the turn and getting it in on the river.

Re: 50NL Bottomset vs 2p2er

It depends. He won't have AJ because of preflop. If he reraises the only hand that makes sense is 66 because he's not going overboard with a hand that he didn't raise preflop because he's not showing up w/AJ and he's not going to reraise KJs/QJs. I'd like to say I fold but I wouldn't, but after the hand I'd feel like I just wasted a stack.
