HDMI Cables???

I'm hooking my computer up to my Sharp Aquos. The motherboard I'm using has an onboard video card and an HDMI out port.

I don't know much about HDMI. I know my TV supports HDMI 1.3 but I can't find any mention of it on the motherboard.

My question is...if I buy an HDMI 1.3 cable will it work with devices that don't specify HDMI 1.3 (like maybe this motherboard or say my crappy motorola PVR)?

I just don't want to buy a bunch of HDMI 1.3 cables if I need to be getting non-1.3 to make my devices work? I'm hoping the 1.3 cables will work regardless.

Hopefully this is an easy question. Thanks for any help.

Re: HDMI Cables???

there is no such thing as a hdmi 1.3 cable.

all hdmi cables have the same design.

i think hdmi cables are just digital, so they can handle whatever signal goes through.

they're cheap at monoprice btw

monoprice.com. The only place for cabling.

Re: HDMI Cables???

I didn't realize anyone had replied to this as I had given up after a couple of hours. I just went ahead and ordered cables from monoprice that afternoon.

It might be some crazy marketing ploy but there definitely is a distinction for HDMI 1.3 cables as they are in a separate section on the monoprice website.

I just wanted to agree that monoprice is the only way to go for cables. Ordered Thursday, arrived this morning (Monday) via regular shipping. I also got a digital audio cable for about $5 which looks about 10X sturdier than the one I paid $20 for at best buy.

If for some reason my HDMI 1.3 cables cause problems then I'll come back to the thread and complain about it.
