This situation reminds me of Concept No. 22 in NLHTAP, where Sklansky/Miller write that sometimes itīs a good play to move in w/ AK. The reason is that itīs quite unlikely that someone has AA/KK, you have ~30% equity against KK, are only a slight dog against lower pocket pairs, plus in reality some favorites will fold (say 99,TT, maybe even better), plus sometimes you get calls from worse hands like AJ (especially the 34/11 player I think), so in the long run you win.

If the regulars are watching you must sometimes do the same thing with AA/KK to keep them guessing.

I don't think MP2 folds to a 3-bet, but the CO likely will. I think this is a decent spot to just smooth call and play the hand carefully. You are in position and AKo is essentially a drawing hand now. If you flop big like two pair or trips or a straight or something great, you could get some value out of it, but one pair in this multi way pot prob wont be too good if we get a significant amount of money in there which would likely happen with such a large PF pot (a flop bet will likely be large enough to force us to decide if we are committed or not, also we have to make up our minds about what we are going to do against the CO as over 10% of his stack is already in the pot).

Uhhhh, no.

Egads, I would NEVER consider weaksauce here. Never. It's why I play so aggro IP....get action on my big hands. To ccall here is bad IMHO. Raise>fold>call

Look at it another way. I'm going to defend my button here. Everyone talks about blind defense. There is also Button defense. I CAN'T give up and lose control of my right to abuse from the button.

I am an aggro-monkey seated CO or Bttn, so my play/advice may not be suited for your game.

edit: LOL at wanting to play a one pair hand in a family pot.
Raise to thin the field
Profit

I can accept this, but I have to ask what do you do when MP1 calls?

Is he the only caller?

Re: NL50: AK OTB, raiser+2 coldcallers - Raise, Fold, Call?

sure, but lets look at all angles:

1) MP1 calls, you flop an A on a rainbow board/drawy board
2) both call A rainbow/drawy
3) MP1 calls you miss
4) both call you miss

OK, he's the only caller. I play poker from there.

Did the flop hurt AA? If not, let's take it down on the flop.

Rod... play poker.. it has nothing to do with the cards.

I have a one pair hand that will ALWAYS cost me a bet on the flop to win. Then I'm done,,, even if I get TPTK on the turn.

Win with your position, not your feeble-azzed AKo hand.
