3bet bully gets lucky when u make a stand and stacks u... wot now?
 

Another thread about a 3bet bully actually inspired me to start this one. Guy was getting lots of his steal raises from btn and CO 3bet. My advice was that he had to take a stand eventually and PLAY with the bully a bit, especially in pos with hands like SCs, suited one gappers and any pair by just calling.

My question comes when you take the stand and call. the flop seems decent enough and you commit on the flop only to find that this time the bully DOES actually have a hand or has hit something and you go down. Immediately you are leaning towards tilt town. that's not good in itself but he now feels good and will certainly continue to bully you PLUS now others are probably thinking along similar lines for some warped reason.

What is the best recourse here? Leave the table? Continue to play the same in the knowledge it's +EV to do so against this guy? Stay and play differently? Any options I haven't considered...

Get a premium and 4-bet shove over his 3-bet. Or call and shove over his flop bet. Also try to make a note on the hand so you can take the same line on another day against the guy when you have a bigger hand.

But I like US' idea so much better. And it's pretty much exactly what I do in a similar situation.

You really just need to be able to shrug this stuff off. Stay at the table iff it's a good table. Sit out for a bit if you might be tempted to tilt. If you get a premium hand, pretend you're tilting.

A ton of variance is just pissing contests vs. regulars. Since you can't avoid them in general, you just have to deal with it.

If the table is good, stay. Your strat is sound it just didn't work out as well as you'd hope. It's variance.

If you're really tilting, take a break. Having a sound strategy, implementing it, and getting burned by chance shouldn't tilt you IMO, but step away if it does.
