latest on AC casino developments

Here are two recent articles on some of the planned casino developments in AC. The first article is about the Revel resort and casino that will be built next to the Showboat. The Revel people presented their plans last Saturday to a group of us from the Bella condo tower since they are building it right in front of us. The renderings of their buildings were very impressive. Two slender and very tall towers (they'd like to build both together, but one will probably follow the other) will be the tallest buildings in NJ, much taller than anything currently in AC. Even the non-tower building (the casino, etc.) will be 140 feet tall.

The second article is about Pinnacle's interest in developing a second casino at Bader Field (the first one will be built on the old Sands site). This is a big change in their thinking as they balked earlier at anyone building on the Bader Field site. Maybe the announcement of the $5B MGM Grand near the Borgata and Revel's plans helped convince them that AC is really about to undergo a real Renaissance, and they want to up their investment.

Do you have a link to the Revel rendering? I quickly Googled it and couldn't find anything.

If this AC renaissance actually materializes, it sounds like Atlantic City will be able to keep many of the east coasters that travel to Vegas b/c AC is such a pit.

Let us gogogogo?

That sounds awesome. The article says the casino at Revel will be 168,000 SF. That's bigger than every casino on the LV Strip except MGM Grand.

No, unfortunately they haven't released anything publicly yet. They wanted to show us what they were planning before they went to the AC board as a good neighbor gesture. If I was thinking, I would have taken my cell phone and snapped some pics. That probably wouldn't have been fair, though, since they were doing us a favor. I assume that after they have their meeting with the city, they'll be released publicly.

Yeah, it was obvious from everything they showed and described that everything is going to be first class all the way. I'm sure the MGM Grand will be also. The Pinnacle casino(s) probably will be as well. It will be nice to have several choices of Borgata-level casinos to choose from in AC.

Especially nice since they'll be on the boardwak.

These look really cool. Can someone help contextualize the wider-angle rendering for me? Is the tall building on the left the Borgata? What are the tall buildings in the foreground on the right?

It looks like the building on the left is meant to be the Borgata, but the other buildings don't seem to represent reality very well. It looks like a bit of artistic license was taken.
