Reads? If it's an unknown ss player I shove. If villain has been tight then I call. That's a wierd over raise, that usually means mid or small pp or AK. I ship this in.

Pretty easy shove here, 6x his raise size means it's push/fold & QQ means it isn't fold.

All great points. It seems there was nothing else to consider. With the raise at 4x, I was thinking exactly that; smaller pp or AK. Although, had seen opp 3-bet with AQ to UTG raiser. What I was afraid of was him calling with AK, seeing as how my stack is considerably larger than the small stacks.

BTW, I lost to AK, but I only second guessed myself because I was thinking about the equity of my stack at that point in the tourney. I really didn't want to risk it when there were 4 shorter stacks, but I guess we play to win. Thought maybe a call, but then I don't get full value.

I was just confused as to whether I should've played it a little more prudently considering the circumstances aside from being ahead.

I read a post on 2+2 somewhat recently that said that often a better way to play QQ in a spot like this is to call preflop and then be ready to get it all-in on any non A or K flop. I've done this with a good deal of success recently. If you're in position, you can usually expect a c-bet from the OR. And if you're out of position, you can simply open-push or check/push depending on your read and image.

I think this is a very good way to take a slightly lower-risk route while increasing your value vs hands that would have otherwise folded to your preflop push.

shove, or call with intention of getting it in on all non A/K flops (and about never folding pre), esp if there's a decent chance someone will squeeze.

Good point. However, with antes, which pokerstars converters NEVER [censored] HAVE, I think it's an easy push. I mean, you have 180K and there is 50K sitting in the pot or something, right? If AK calls, good, you want AK to call here given the overlay (as opposed to deeper, where may rather play flop). JJ may call you here given stack sizes too, but no way he puts another cent in if an A/K flops. You don't really know. I mean, I see JJ call here all the time because "AK" starts floating in UTG+1's brain and he can't let it go.
