12/45 : AQs in BB with button pf raise, bsb
 

I had won the previous hand (nearly doubled up) against villain by slowplaying trips on flop and fullhouse on turn. I view him as somewhat loose-aggressive.

coming over the top with a reraise nearly 10x the initial raise is too much imo. If you see this as a steal reraiseing to 1300-1500 should be enough. The second possibility would be to just call an reorientate on the flop.

Shove=raise to 1400ish imo, either way we're never intending to fold preflop. If we get coldcalled we don't particularly like it since I guess we have to make it a go and go but I don't think he folds better than AQ high very often. So I think shove is equal to raise.
It also seems pretty clear that shoving is definitely +cEV. The question is whether calling is more so. AQ is the sort've hand I like calling with 10x the raise amount, because the stack sizes are awkward for raising, and calling keeps in hands we dominate. However, here we're not slightly ahead of his range, we're waay ahead because it's a button raise. We're going to be lost if we miss &amp; won't necessarily extract a huge amount with TPTK, so I think raising preflop is fine here.
So overall I think shoving is fine here, though calling/raising are also pretty close.

I either view it as you're afraid of getting re-re-raised all-in or afraid to play a big pot from OOP if you're getting called and miss the flop.

Case 1: If you read on Villain is correct, he's probably 4-betting all-in light, and AQs is ahead of his range. So don't worry about calling a shove.

Case 2: Stacks are almost perfect for a go and go. If you re-raise to 1400, you'll have 2600 left to bet into a pot of 2850. Of course, you have to stick it in no matter what comes on the flop. If you flop a pair or better, you can sometimes just check and let Villain hang himself.
