2hours (130 players left (money at 70) in Im in the top 20 (30000 chips)(no rebuys)

I get dealt qq late postion

player to the right raises 3x blind (tight player)

i reraise 6x blind

player to right calls

Flop: 568 rainbow

I bet 5000

player calls 5000

Turn: 9

I bet 5000

player to right goes allin (leaves me about 6000 left)

I call

Player to right holds St8 9 high (hole cards 87)


Now obviously I shouldnt have called but I want to know how should I have avioded getting into the mess in the first place. Should I reraised higher preflop or gone allin on the flop?

Blinds would help. So would positions. You didn't raise enough pre. He'll call a min reraise with anything with the odds you gave him. Protect your hand by 3betting+ (raising three times his bet, or even more). Anywhere from 12x to 15x BB would be alot better.

He hit a monster flop, you just got very unlucky.

sorry... a correction

I didn't raise 6x bb but 6x the min bet
