Bobby Baldwin and SSI

Hello. This is my first post in this section.
I would like to ask you something.

I read somewhere that Baldwin's section in SSI about LHE is not valid anymore.
Is it true?
Even if it is true that the structure of the game is changed about blinds is it true that this chapter is not good?

For example I read that Harman's chapter (that I have still not read) about LHE in SSII is great. Are there so many difference compare to Baldwin's work?

Thank you at all.

It's been a while since I've read SSI (I once did cover-to-cover) but I remember thinking, "Wow, this is really weak advice." Specifically, I am referring to a time when you have QQ and you raise PF and an opponent calls. Rags flop. You bet and are called. An ace peels on the turn and he checks. Apparently you should fire (which I agree with) but the justification is that he likely doesn't have an ace because people don't really peel with overs. Which I think is 100% wrong today, at least at small stakes.

That said, if you want to kill small stakes games, get Small Stakes Holdem by Ed Miller. It's worth every penny and is a great book from cover to cover. If you have any questions, post them here (ideally work them into hands you play).

The games have changed that chapter is obsolete.

The old single blind structure dictated a tighter game. And the the way limit holdem used to be played, was based on the old way to play NL holdem with traing wheels. Probably too tight, and too passive for how either game is played now.

in the old 10-20 games, there was a single five dollar blind, so the initial pot was 1/3 the size of today's games. obv that changes your strategy
