Howard Lederer on CNBC

Did anyone catch this piece on CNBC a couple minutes ago? (Mods, if this is not the right forum please move or cross-post) Howard made a couple good points. Privacy in own home, credit cards and poker sites insuring new "robust" methods of preventing underage gambling. Overall, I think he made his point slightly better than the opposition did (some lady for "family values" or some such group) Thoughts?

Are we a little sore that the bastion of freedom that is the USA is one of the only western nations that criminalizes online poker?

George Bush is always going on about freedom & liberty, just as Kim Jong-il is always harping on about how North Korea is a paradise.

If people really believed they lived in a paradise or had sufficient freedom, then they wouldn't need to be reminded everyday by their leaders.

When I lived in the UK, I never heard the PM or leaders talk about freedom or liberty, but I did heat them talk about 'British pride' a lot. This was because many British people aren't proud, have never sung (and don't know) the National Anthem, and associate the Union Jack with far-right violence and hatred.

And yes, Howard came across as a little seedy in that CNBC broadcast...

Yeah he didn't argue that well but they also didn't give him much time she wouldn't shut up lol.

As for the argument itself, there are plenty of good reasons to make it legal but the government is never going to care, the only shot we have is if they realize they can make a ton of money from it

George Bush? CONGRESS passed that bill. A Congress that had plenty of Democrats in it.

Cigarettes and alcohol are addicting as well and aren't good for you so why don't they ban that to then lady ? How does the under 1% of problem gamblers suddenly ruin it for 99% of the people who have self control I just dont get it. How is a country with no habeus corpus or freedom of speech or anything like that a free country again ? I bet Hitler told his citizens that back in the 30's ... the fact of how it was passed was just complete BS and reaked of corruption. Wasn't their a bill introduced a few months ago to regulate online gaming ? Anyone know what happened to that or did it get stomped right away ?
