Arbs - How often do you not get both bets down?

For you serious arb bettors, how often do you get screwed because you can't get both bets down?

The concept is simple, but how does it really play out when you are counting on it for income? Any other advice you want to add about the whole ordeal would be appreciated as well.

<10% of the time.

Increase EV when I miss one side, variance too obv.

How often do books refuse your action and how often does the line just move?

What kind of player are you? Do you handicap games also or just stick to arbs?

I apologize if the questions are stupid, I'm just starting to figure out if I want to get into arbs. I only feel comfortable betting NBA totals at -110 and look at arbs as strictly mathematical bets. There seems to be too much money in it not to consider getting seriously involved, I'm just trying to figure out how realist the pitfalls are and what kind of problems you run into.

I had many sleepless nights when I lost 10x in one game of being exposed than I made in 12 hours of arbing.

My only advice is to minimize delays, do the bets in parallel, and don't worry about hedging exactly. And know when games are taken off at different sites, whether it's at kickoff/tipoff, or at the posted time, or somewhere in between.

If you haven't already seen this, there's an article about potential pitfalls at arbcentral, link, as well as a few others.

I'm also thinking about getting into arbs. If you play with the maximum allowed, ie money to play for the maximum on most major sites, how much could you expect to earn? I read something along the lines that you could expect 0.5%/day return on your bankroll.
