100/200 hu on ap

I'm a nl regular but have been working on my limit game because I have been successful in the past and feel I can be a consistent winner especially hu.

I feel I played this hand correctly but was wondering if there is a way I could have saved some on his runner runner suckout...

On the turn should I have checked there? It seemed he was 3 betting preflop with any ace...

Both hands are played fine. You could maybe fold turn in second hand if he was only c/ring the turn with monsters, but that is a rare quality in a high stakes HU specialist.

3betting first riv is v poor u dont beat much against most ppl.

calling the cap is bad against just about anyone

Given the PF action I dont like the river three bet.

If it had just gone raise/call PF Id like it a little more.

As is, gehrig has it right, you dont beat much.

Why would you play on the site which blatantly lied to its costumers and cheats?

the 8 on the river doesnt complete as many two pairs as it does backdoor flushes (and a higher set) given his preflop range.

78s will likely play it identically, but for the most part, that is the only legitimate hand that is value raising the river with (that may call a 3bet) that you beat. i say that because he is almost never waiting for the river to value raise top pair or an overpair. if the river is a K or an A it is a clear cut 3bet because that opens a whole new range of hands that he can legitimately be value raising. the same is true if he has an exceptionally wide preflop 3bet range.

you also have to factor in the necessary criteria in that better hands will usually 4bet and worse hands will usually call (and sometimes fold, either because it's a bluff raise, or he was making a thin value raise to begin with). with that in mind, you need to be ahead the large majority of the time to justify the 3bet... not just greater than 50%. i would say closer to 75%, depending on how often he folds worse hands and how you treat a 4bet.

Re: 100/200 hu on ap

For the second hand, i would feel confident betting the turn against most opponents because like you said, the majority of aces are 3betting you preflop.

treating the checkraise is player dependent. some it's a clear fold against, some it's a clear call. i think that against someone who frequently is going to be making plays on the big streets, a frisky option is to 3bet and fold to a cap. there are few if any players who 4bet the turn with anything that you're drawing to more than 2 cards against. if he has 23 specifically, you can grab a tissue and let out a few tears - because that's about the only reasonable hand that will.

but [censored] that, the safer and preferable move is to just to call down realistically.
