villain called on the flop w/ backdoor clubs, when missed on the turn, couldnt let go, decided to shove any river.

Yes but it also screams (with the rather weak bets made by you that look like a missed A, under pair, or PF Steal) AA, AK, AQ, AJ, A8, A6, A3, QQ, JJ, TT, 99, 88, 77, and a few others mayby 98s, 87s and a total bluff thrown in. Of which, you are only worried about 6 hands.

If he spiked the 8 or had 33, make a note and ensure you play him some more. It will be profitable in the long run.

c/c flop and c/c turn, shove river with an 8 (or 33/JJ/66) seems like a terrible line to take. don't give him credit for that. He probably has Ace high, maybe a pair of Jacks, at best.

Not to mention your hand is very under represented.

Call and thank him for bluffing off his stack.
