Illegal aliens given drivers\' licenses
 

Not only is that (in addition to any other benefits they get) a slap in the face to us, but it shows that the various states don't care about voter fraud.

This whole illegal alien situation disgusts me. My grandparents on both sides came here legally. Jumped through the hoops at Ellis Island. Learned English. Obtained a Dl legally. Opened their own businesses. And did not get any aid or assistace from Big Brother.

Again, illegal aliens disgust me. If they are allowed to vote, our political system means nothing (it hasn't for a long while, but that's a topic for another day).

How does this help towards voter fraud?(I am from Illinois, I don't think I would be able to vote if the only thing I had to prove I was a use citizen was my drivers license)

So you're grandparents are chumps. Why should illegals today do things extra hard when the system is set up for them to bypass it? I am sure most people who went the elis island route would choose to hope the border instead if they had the opportunity.

I don't see the big deal. They come here, they work hard, pay taxes and stay quiet. For some reason this myth of illegal immigrants "taking" public assistance continues unabated. It's laughable. Sure, there are a handful of people that come in a commit some sort of low grade social service fraud, but the amount of money involved (at least here in Minnesota) is so tiny it's completely ridiculous to make a stink about it. Besides, we need the labor. If you want to get incensed about something that matters and doesn't demean other human beings, get pissy about Pentagon waste. This costs us way, way, way more money and, unlike immigrants, we don't need any of this crap.

There's also the whole issue of referring to a human being as "illegal".

Backe when people came through Ellis Island you didn't have to be in graduate school in order to immigrate to the USA or be a doctor or high tech specialist. YOu could be poor and immigrate as long as you were willing to work hard, as apparantley your grandparents were, could make a life for themselves.

For hard working poor now, THERE IS NO MEANS OF ENTRY other than an illegal one. To me they are hero's. They walk across a desert to take 2 job at McDonalds that us citizens on welfare turn their noses up at and make better lives for themselves and their families.

They are HERO's. Plain and simple.

If we taught their work ethic in inner city public schools we would proably cure poverty instead of breeding generations of welfare recipients.

Only citizens have the right to vote, not aliens. States that are allowing them to get DL's (such as NY) that look the same as residents' are thus allowing voter fraud.

Prior to WW1 we needed immigrants to develop this country. Since then immigration has been more and more of a detriment, not a benefit. Other countries have historically had a tougher stance on immigration than the US, but that doesn't mean unchecked immigration should continue here.

If the immigrants of the past few decades are so good and hard working, they should grace other countries with their presence.

You don't need a driver's license to vote.

Many states have allowed non-citizens to get a driver's license for a long time. This is not a new issue...at all.
